League One Volleyball (LOVB) is reimagining women's sports. Launched in 2019, our company is a mission-led sports performance, training and media enterprise that will change the game of volleyball in the USA and empower new generations of female athletes.
It is a groundbreaking time for volleyball in the US with our historic triple Olympic Gold medals in Women's Indoor, Beach and Sitting Volleyball. Volleyball is already the #1 most played girls' youth sport. There are 38M current and former players today. Of major sports, it's the only one that is women-first (~90% of players are female). But the volleyball market has been almost entirely missed by traditional sports investors, brands, and media.
LOVB is capturing this opportunity by creating a strong club business, and from that built-in audience and fandom, is creating the best Pro League in the world and a digital ecosystem that will connect all aspects of LOVB. Job Summary:

The Senior Manager Marketing, Merchandising will lead the development and execution of marketing strategies that build the team’s brand, drive merchandise sales, and deepen fan engagement. This role will oversee multi-channel campaigns, optimize performance using data-driven insights, and ensure consistent messaging across digital and physical touchpoints. Working closely with merchandising, planning, marketing, creative, and operations, the Director of Marketing ensures that the team’s brand stands out in the sports and retail landscape while delivering measurable business results. This person is responsible for driving the go-to-market strategy and shaping how we show up to customers across all selling channels.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This leader will spearhead efforts to connect fans to LOVB’s teams and players, ensure LOVB remains at the forefront of the sports and entertainment landscape, and elevate our overall market presence. A critical aspect of this role is to strategically link marketing efforts across LOVB’s ecosystem—bridging the youth clubs business and the professional league—as well as support efforts that reach into the greater youth community in each local community.

Marketing Strategy Development & Execution

  • Define and execute an integrated marketing strategy aligned with overall merchandise and business goals.
  • Create seasonal go-to-market calendars that align with match schedules, special events, product launches, and fan engagement initiatives.
  • Partner with leadership to ensure marketing priorities support both short-term revenue targets and long-term brand growth.

Brand Positioning & Awareness

  • Position the brand to stand out in the competitive sports and retail landscape, highlighting unique attributes of the team and volleyball culture.
  • Develop campaigns that attract new fans and customers, while reinforcing loyalty among existing supporters.
  • Ensure brand identity, tone, and storytelling remain consistent across all consumer touchpoints.

Performance Measurement & KPIs

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (traffic, conversion, return on ad spend, customer acquisition costs, and retention metrics).
  • Regularly report on marketing effectiveness, providing actionable insights to optimize strategy.
  • Implement testing methodologies (A/B, multivariate) to maximize campaign performance.

Campaign Development & Execution

  • Design and execute campaigns to acquire new customers through paid media, SEO/SEM, influencer partnerships, and digital advertising.
  • Integrate athlete-driven content and league partnerships into campaign strategies to boost reach and engagement.
  • Ensure campaigns are optimized for both fan engagement and merchandise sales.

Customer Retention & Loyalty

  • Build and oversee a CRM strategy that nurtures long-term relationships with fans and customers.
  • Design and launch a loyalty or rewards program that increases repeat purchases and fan engagement.
  • Leverage email and SMS marketing to maintain strong direct connections with the fan base.

Multi-Channel Marketing Leadership

  • Lead efforts across e-commerce, social media, email, and in-venue marketing to ensure consistency of message and brand storytelling.
  • Drive fan acquisition and engagement by balancing paid, owned, and earned channels.
  • Work closely with creative and content teams to ensure high-quality, engaging materials across platforms.

Analytics & Data-Driven Optimization

  • Use analytics platforms to measure campaign success and customer behavior across channels.
  • Apply insights to optimize spend, messaging, targeting, and creative execution.
  • Translate data into actionable recommendations that guide future marketing investments.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Merchandising, Planning, E-commerce, Operations, Creative, and Design to ensure alignment across product launches, campaigns, and fan-facing initiatives.
  • Act as the bridge between strategy and execution, ensuring marketing efforts translate into measurable sales and engagement outcomes.
  • Support sponsorship and partnership activations with marketing strategy and execution.
Education and Experience:
  • 8+ years of progressive marketing leadership experience, ideally in apparel, sports, or lifestyle brands.
  • Experience with a professional sports team or league is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success managing multi-channel campaigns that drive both revenue and brand marketing.
  • Experience using data analytics to inform and optimize marketing strategies.
  • Proven leadership skills with ability to manage cross-functional teams and external agencies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Sport Management, Business, or a related field (MBA preferred).

Personal Attributes:
  • Strong expertise in digital marketing, CRM, paid media, SEO/SEM, and influencer partnerships.
  • Deep experience in brand strategy, audience development, and fan engagement.
  • Expertise in live event marketing, game presentation, or in-venue experience design.
  • Strategic thinker with a creative mindset and hands-on execution ability.
  • Strong understanding of digital, social, and content marketing.
  • Excellent leadership and team-building skills; collaborative working style.
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities; thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements (Remote):
  • Ability to operate a computer and communicate via video, phone, and digital tools.
  • Willingness to travel for events, site visits, and team meetings
  • Preference for candidates based in Pro team markets
