Position Overview
The Student Employment Manager oversees the administration and coordination of all aspects of the campus student employment program, which employs approximately 800 student workers annually. This position ensures compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations, provides guidance to students and supervisors, and develops opportunities that support student success, professional development, and institutional workforce needs. The Student Employment Manager will provide exemplary customer service through a variety of service channels, including walk-in, phone, email, chat, and virtual meetings.
This position supports cooperative, cross-functional, cross-campus communication and dialogue by maintaining close working relationships with all campus offices. This position will include some remote or in-person evening and weekend hours.
Primary Responsibilities:
Serve as the initial point of contact for all student employment questions, concerns, and requests to support the recruitment and retention of student employees. Resolve all open issues and triage and escalate as necessary.
Work in collaboration with colleagues who manage Federal Financial Aid Work Study funding to support students’ financial needs while maintaining institutional accountability and program integrity.
Oversee student employment processes. Develop clear tools and procedures that enhance efficiency, consistency, and compliance in student employment operations in order to streamline workflows, reduce errors, and provide students and their supervisors with clear guidance for a smooth student employment experience.
Assess student employment requests against budget allocations; track and route student employment paperwork for approval.
Approve student jobs in Handshake and monitor compliance with hiring policies.
Serve as the primary liaison between Human Resources, Payroll, Financial Aid, Career Services, and campus departments regarding student employment processes and funding.
Provide training, resources, and ongoing support to supervisors of student employees on hiring practices, compliance, performance management, and professional development of student staff.
Coordinate student hiring paperwork and the intake process in coordination with financial aid and payroll services.
Support appropriate exploration and use of AI-enabled tools in student services and administrative processing, with an emphasis on efficiency, service quality, data stewardship, and responsible operational application.
Utilize advanced Excel skills for reconciliation, financial modeling, audit preparation, regulatory reporting, and data analysis to inform decision-making and institutional planning.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.

Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, discretion, and resourcefulness in order to interact effectively with students, family members, and the general public, as well as with representatives from other departments or institutions
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively and professionally interact with a wide range of groups using tact and diplomacy;
Ability to communicate patiently and courteously with difficult situations.
Skill in listening, anticipating, and responding to the needs of customers.
Ability to establish and develop long-term relationships across campus with students, faculty, and administrative staff.
Ability to research, apply, and explain a variety of rules, policies, and procedures.
Strong organizational and project management skills to coordinate and prioritize multiple complex duties, paying attention to detail and deadlines when faced with high volume, fluctuating workload, and constantly changing priorities.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends as needed
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required with 1-3 years of professional experience in a busy service-oriented office and/or related customer service experience.

Work Location
This is an on-campus position as employees are essential in order to provide a fully on-campus, residential college experience for our students and the community.
