Job Description
  • Develop and execute short- and long-term strategies for underground mining operations aligned with corporate goals.
  • Establish production targets, budgets, and schedules to optimize resource utilization and profitability.
  • Oversee day-to-day underground mining activities, ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Manage mine design, development, and sequencing to achieve optimal ore recovery and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure effective ventilation, ground control, and infrastructure integrity for safe working conditions.
  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team including engineers, geologists, surveyors, supervisors, and operators.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across all underground operations.
  • Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental policies in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular audits, risk assessments, and emergency preparedness drills.
  • Track and analyze KPIs such as production rates, ore grades, cost per ton, and equipment availability.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Drive innovation in mining methods, technology adoption, and process optimization.
  • Champion initiatives to reduce operational costs and enhance productivity.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
Minimum Experience
  • 10 years of experience in underground mining operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
High Performance Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of mine planning, ground control, ventilation systems, and safety regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and large teams in a high-pressure environment.
Skills
  • Strong knowledge of underground mining methods, techniques, and equipment, with experience in narrow vein stoping.
  • Proficiency in mine planning, design, and optimization software, such as Vulcan, Surpac, MineSight, and Deswik, to develop and analyze mine designs and production schedules.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively lead and manage a multidisciplinary.
