Position Overview

Our client Stamod Technologies (www.stamod.us) is seeking a Senior / Lead Project Manager with deep expertise in progressive dies and vendor development to lead critical tooling programs. This is a leadership role responsible for end-to-end ownership of multiple high-value die projects, strategic vendor development, and mentoring of junior engineers or project managers.

The role serves as the primary authority and escalation point for outsourced tooling, ensuring alignment with internal cost, quality, delivery, and long-term capability-building objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Program & Leadership Responsibility

  • Lead and own multiple progressive die programs from concept to production readiness
  • Act as the single point of accountability for tooling timelines, cost, and quality
  • Provide technical and commercial leadership across all assigned projects
  • Mentor and guide junior project managers, engineers, or coordinators
  • Drive continuous improvement in tooling project execution standards

Strategic Vendor Development & Management

  • Develop and execute Stamod’s vendor development strategy for progressive dies
  • Identify, evaluate, qualify, and onboard new tool room partners
  • Build long-term strategic relationships with key vendors
  • Lead commercial negotiations including cost, delivery, penalties, and performance KPIs
  • Conduct vendor audits, capability assessments, and improvement plans

Advanced Project Management

  • Define detailed project plans, milestones, and resource allocation
  • Monitor and control project cost, timelines, and risk
  • Proactively resolve escalations related to delays, quality issues, or technical challenges
  • Ensure structured change management and documentation control

Technical & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Review and approve die concepts, strip layouts, and tooling designs
  • Lead design reviews, tryout strategies, and modification decisions
  • Ensure compliance with Stamod tooling standards, materials, and tolerances
  • Interface closely with design, production, quality, purchase, and program teams

Tryout, Validation & Production Readiness

  • Lead die tryouts, approvals, and final sign-offs
  • Ensure first-time-right tooling outcomes wherever feasible
  • Oversee PPAP, tryout reports, and validation documentation
  • Support production ramp-up and stabilization

Reporting & Executive Communication

  • Present regular project and vendor performance reviews to senior management
  • Maintain dashboards covering cost, delivery, risk, and vendor KPIs
  • Act as escalation point for internal stakeholders and external vendors

Experience

  • 10–15+ years of experience in progressive dies, tooling, or stamping operations
  • Strong background in managing outsourced tool rooms and complex programs
  • Demonstrated leadership in tooling project or program management roles

Technical Expertise

  • Expert knowledge of progressive die design, construction, and tryout processes
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal stamping for high-volume production
  • Ability to interpret complex 2D drawings and 3D CAD models
  • Familiarity with DFMEA, PFMEA, PPAP, and automotive quality systems

Commercial & Leadership Skills

  • Proven ability to manage large tooling budgets and negotiations
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving capability
  • Ability to influence vendors and internal stakeholders at senior levels

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical / Tool & Die / Manufacturing Engineering
  • Experience in automotive Tier-1 / Tier-2 environments
  • Exposure to ERP, PLM, or project management systems
  • Experience working with domestic and international tool rooms

  • On-time and on-budget delivery of tooling programs
  • Vendor capability improvement and performance scores
  • First-time tryout and production readiness success rates
  • Reduction in tooling rework, delays, and cost overruns

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹900,000.00 - ₹1,200,000.00 per year
