Position Summary:
The Manager, Warehouse is responsible for leading all warehouse operations within a chemical mixing and distribution facility, ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient handling of raw materials and finished goods. This role oversees inventory control, shipping and receiving, and team leadership while maintaining strict adherence to OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations. The ideal candidate brings strong operational leadership experience in a regulated environment and a commitment to safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily warehouse operations including receiving, storage, inventory control, picking, packing, and shipping of chemical products.
- Ensure efficient workflow and optimal space utilization within the warehouse.
- Partner with production and supply chain teams to align material availability with mixing and distribution schedules.
- Enforce all safety protocols related to handling hazardous materials, including proper labeling, storage, and transport.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable regulatory standards.
- Lead safety training programs and maintain SDS documentation and hazard communication standards.
- Conduct routine audits and inspections to maintain a safe working environment.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels through cycle counts, reconciliations, and system updates.
- Minimize product loss, damage, or contamination through proper handling and storage practices.
- Utilize ERP/WMS systems to track and manage inventory movements.
- Supervise, coach, and develop warehouse staff, including leads, forklift operators, and material handlers.
- Manage staffing levels, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring proper documentation for hazardous materials.
- Work with carriers and logistics partners to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.
- Ensure compliance with DOT shipping requirements, including proper packaging and labeling.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
- Track and report on KPIs such as order accuracy, on-time shipping, inventory accuracy, and safety metrics.
Qualifications:
- 5–8+ years of warehouse or distribution experience, preferably in chemical, manufacturing, or regulated environments.
- 2–4+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations, including hazardous material handling.
- Experience with ERP and/or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Forklift certification (or ability to obtain).
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.
- Experience in a chemical mixing or blending environment.
- Hazmat certification (e.g., DOT/IATA training).
- Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment with exposure to chemicals, varying temperatures, and industrial equipment.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and operate material handling equipment.
- Use of required PPE including gloves, goggles, and protective clothing.
Based on individual states’ employment laws, the salary range for this position is $80,000 - $85,000. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each candidate, including experience and location.
