Position Title: Manager, Warehouse, Logistics & Inventory Control

Reports To: Director, Supply Chain

FLSA Status: Exempt

Pay Range: $103,000-$148,000

Position Overview:

The Manager, Warehouse, Logistics & Inventory Control is responsible for the daily execution and performance of inbound and outbound warehouse operations, logistics coordination, and inventory control at a single site. This role provides visible, hands-on leadership on the warehouse floor while ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations.

The position balances people leadership with active involvement in operational problem-solving, workflow management, and performance monitoring. Success is defined by strong safety results, accurate inventory, reliable service levels, and disciplined day-to-day execution.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse & Logistics Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day warehouse operations including receiving, replenishment, selection, loading, and shipping.
  • Maintain a regular floor presence to monitor workflow, resolve issues, and support managers and supervisors.
  • Direct daily labor deployment, shift coverage, overtime usage, and productivity expectations.
  • Review operational plans, staffing levels, and throughput to ensure service and safety targets are met.
  • Monitor equipment usage and coordinate repairs, maintenance, and vendor support as needed.
  • Review daily shipping, loading, and audit documentation to ensure accuracy, food safety, and loss prevention.

Inventory Management & Control

  • Own daily inventory accuracy for the site, including receiving accuracy, adjustments, cycle counts, and audits.
  • Actively review inventory variances and work with inventory and warehouse teams to resolve root causes.
  • Ensure correct and consistent use of WMS and inventory systems across all warehouse functions.
  • Support implementation of inventory tools, process improvements, and automation initiatives.
  • Partner closely with production, procurement, logistics, and sales to address shortages, excess, or service risks.

Leadership & People Management

  • Provide hands-on leadership to warehouse managers, supervisors, and inventory control employees.
  • Lead daily huddles, shift handoffs, and operational reviews as needed.
  • Coach managers and supervisors on execution, safety, and employee engagement.
  • Participate in hiring, training, performance reviews, corrective actions, and terminations.
  • Maintain open communication with employees and address morale, concerns, and engagement opportunities.

Safety, Compliance & Quality

  • Enforce safety policies, food safety standards, and regulatory requirements on a daily basis.
  • Partner with Safety to conduct observations, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, FDA, USDA, DOT, AIB, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain an audit-ready facility through consistent documentation and standard work adherence.

Performance & Cost Control

  • Track and review daily and weekly KPIs related to safety, productivity, accuracy, service, and labor cost.
  • Identify operational issues and implement immediate corrective actions.
  • Support budget management by controlling labor, supplies, damage, and rework costs.
  • Recommend process improvements and efficiency opportunities based on hands-on operational observations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7–10+ years of progressive experience in warehouse, distribution, or logistics operations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading daily operations in a high-volume, single-site warehouse environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of warehouse workflows, inventory control, and safety compliance.
  • Ability to lead from the floor and make timely operational decisions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in food, consumer goods, or regulated distribution environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of WMS and inventory management systems.
  • Experience improving labor productivity, accuracy, and safety performance.

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Strong operational leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze daily performance data and take corrective action.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
  • Consistent application of policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Powered Industrial Equipment Certification (to be obtained within 3 months, if required).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to navigate all areas of the facility, including office spaces, warehouse areas, and the exterior perimeter.
  • Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary to safely perform job duties.
  • Ability to stand, sit, and carry out tasks throughout a full shift, with appropriate meal breaks.
  • Physically capable of standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, and crouching as needed.
  • Able to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds independently and heavier objects with reasonable accommodations.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to perform job duties accurately.
  • Capable of assessing weights, judging distances, and working at various heights.

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday 6am-4pm. Occasional off shift for operational needs.

It is not typical for an employee to start at or near the top of the range for the position.
