Manager/Director of Business Development & Marketing

POSITION TITLE: Manager/Director of Business Development & Marketing

REPORTS TO (TITLE): Chief Executive Officer

EMPLOYEE PAY STATUS: Exempt

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

This position serves as the essential link between Aliso Ridge Behavioral Health and the community, all referring agencies, and providers (i.e., internal and external stakeholders). Contributes to the development and implementation of the strategic plan including public relations/marketing programs, promotions, and internal/external communications: and serving as liaison with the hospital's public relations (physicians and their office staffs; community residents, schools, churches and civic groups; area employers; legislators; other healthcare and human service providers; and media) to build a constituency of support for the hospital and facilitate the hospital's ability to meet the public's needs in addition to seeking collaborative opportunities to improve the quality of life of residents within the hospital's service area. The Director of Business Development manages the Outreach Team while achieving departmental and facility goals and objectives.

1. Access Management

  • Build Outreach Team with comprehensive knowledge of each facility’s programs, including inpatient, residential and outpatient services, the assessment and admission process and transportation and access to services.
  • Foster extensive knowledge of each facility’s admission and exclusionary criteria as they apply to all programs and services.
  • Maintain bed availability outreach database for daily communication to key referral sources on bed availability.
  • Daily collaboration with the regional call center to resolve admission problems and provide communication linkages with referral sources.
  • Daily monitoring of referral inquiries and admission statistics.
  • Attend in-services and program development meetings held by clinical staff to stay informed of current programmatic and care delivery issues, changes or updates.

2. Provider & Community Relations

  • Maintain current knowledge of the behavioral healthcare market within the Orange County service area.
  • Support Strategic Planning of the Business Development and Marketing team with relevant information, data, reports, etc. for strategic planning as requested.
  • Contribute to competitive and SWOT analyses, including programs, bed availability, and go-to-market strategies.
  • Build internal customer relationships with Orange County leadership and physicians at each facility and include them, as appropriate, in community outreach activities, meetings and facility tours.
  • Act as a higher-level link between Orange County facilities and key referral sources to drive service-oriented action plans that are responsive to referral source needs.
  • Serve community as a resource and representative of the larger behavioral health industry.

3. Accounts Management & Oversight

  • Determine categorized target markets, both regionally and for each facility.
  • Establish prioritized referral source account lists.
  • Assign Outreach Team members their appropriate account lists. Maintain documentation of assigned accounts, key contacts, client profiles, competitive profiles and reports as submitted by all Outreach Team members.
  • Periodic review and/or re-assignment of accounts as needed to optimize Outreach Team efficiencies and productivity.
  • Partner with Outreach Team members for any accounts needing special attention, customer service, service recovery or problem resolution support.
  • Spearhead the process of obtaining formalized feedback from referral sources on “referral source satisfaction”.

4. Management of Community Outreach Team

  • Hire, train and supervise Community Outreach Representatives.
  • Communicate strategic business development plan and priorities to Outreach Representatives.
  • Define, demonstrate, and implement standards and expectations for customer service excellence and service recovery for all outreach activities.
  • Cross-educate team members on all Orange County programs and services at both facilities.
  • Build working relationships between ARBH Call Center and Outreach Representatives that yield real-time responsiveness to field contact with referral sources.
  • Participate in regular ride-along time with Outreach Representatives.
  • Foster group knowledge of each other’s accounts and activities to provide team-up field marketing where appropriate to customer needs.
  • Provide ongoing training on customer service, service recovery and customer-oriented communication skills.
  • Provide appropriate sales messaging for each program/service provided by Orange County facilities, and for each target audience.
  • Carries out the personnel management activities associated with direct staff supervision including screening and selection, orientation training and development, performance management, and employee relations functions.

5. Community Events and Sponsorship·

  • Organize and conduct target-market specific Open House events for ARBH facility’s operations.
  • Link with key community partners (NAMI, Be Well, etc.) to present ongoing collaborative community education and support, speaker series, panel discussions, etc.
  • Consults with members of management in order to maintain a consistent public image.
  • Represents the organization at major public events.
  • Maintains relationships and secures competitive information on products and services in order to maintain and develop market share.

6. Performs related duties as requested.

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Licensing:

· Degree in English, journalism, marketing or other related discipline, Master’s Degree preferred.

Knowledge and Experience:

· 5 years’ experience in community development, public relations/corporate and crisis communications.

· A proven record of effective oral and written communications with people of varying backgrounds.

· Experience developing and evaluating effective marketing campaigns, time management and meeting deadlines.

· Knowledge of local, state and federal political processes.

· Constituency building; proofreading techniques; printing procedures; graphic arts; photography, desktop publishing; funding sources.

· Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential issues.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, this position is frequently required to do the following:

  • Use standard office equipment and access, input, and retrieve information from a computer. Use computer keyboard with manual and finger dexterity and wrist-finger speed sufficient to perform repetitive actions efficiently for extended periods of time.
  • Communicate effectively in person or via telephone in a manner which can be understood by those with whom the person is speaking, including a diverse population.
  • Give and follow verbal and written instructions with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Perform complex mental functions and basic arithmetic functions; interpret complex laws, regulations, and policies; collect, interpret, and/or analyze complex data and information.
  • Vision: see details of objects at close range.
  • Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Reach forward, up, down, and to the side.
  • Sit or stand for minimum periods of one hour at a time and come and go from the work area repeatedly throughout the day.
  • Lift up to five (5) pounds.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $88,358.40 - $132,032.16 per year
