About the Role
We are looking for a Managing Editor & Content Strategist to oversee a high-volume, high-quality content program serving healthcare clients. This role combines hands-on editing with SEO-driven content planning. You will be the final review point for all articles, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and a patient-friendly tone. You will also create editorial calendars based on keyword research and client goals, and oversee a team of contract writers.

After an initial onboarding period, this role is expected to operate with minimal supervision. The right candidate will take ownership of the editorial process, keep projects moving, and proactively solve problems before they reach leadership.

This position is fully remote, open to Michigan and Indiana residents, and reports directly to the Director of Marketing Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Edit and review all content for accuracy, clarity, tone, and compliance.
  • Develop content strategies and editorial calendars using SEMrush and other SEO tools.
  • Implement SEO best practices, including optimization for AI search results, featured snippets, LLM-driven search, and local SEO.
  • Assign and manage freelance writers, providing clear direction and feedback.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Trello.
  • Ability to create short-form content, such as news updates or social media posts, when requested by clients.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Operations Manager, who will handle most publishing. Be able to publish directly in WordPress when needed.
  • Collaborate with a medical advisor when needed to fact-check and strengthen clinical accuracy.
  • Track content performance and adjust strategies based on results.
  • Support content distribution via Meta Business Suite and other social platforms.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in content editing, content management, or related role.
  • Excellent editing and writing skills with a focus on clarity and patient-friendly communication.
  • Proven ability to manage high-volume editorial calendars across multiple clients or campaigns.
  • Strong knowledge of SEO strategy and keyword research (SEMrush or similar tools).
  • Familiarity with WordPress publishing and content optimization (hands-on ability, though day-to-day publishing will be supported by the Marketing Operations Manager).
  • Experience managing writers.
  • Background in healthcare or medical writing strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound editorial decisions with little oversight once ramped up.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $81,000.00 per year
