Managing Editor, Print Division of On3 Sports

Managing Editor for College sports publications and books, including The Wolverine magazine, that covers football and other sports at the University of Michigan, for the print division of On3 Media.

Job Duties

• Plan 11 monthly issues of The Wolverine magazine, assign articles to four-man staff (that also handles the website covering Michigan football and other sports) and to freelancers, and acquire photos
• Plan, assign articles and manage photos for The Wolverine’s annual 160-page football preview magazine
• Plan content, assign articles and manage photos for any Michigan sports-related book project
• Assign first reads to freelance editors and do final read on all copy and page proofs
• Compile charts and notes packages when needed
• Produce weekly football email newsletters from articles on TheWolverine.com on Sunday mornings and Thursdays during football season (takes about an hour for each)
• Participate in weekly editorial meetings with staff at The Wolverine and with the other company editors
• Assist in the editing and proofing process for company publications covering Notre Dame, Penn State and NC State, plus book projects
• Help in other areas when needed

Job Requirements
-- High-level editing skills with attention to detail and AP style proficiency
-- Excellent organizational and planning skills
-- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field
-- 5+ years of editorial experience with leadership and planning responsibilities
-- Can work remotely (company is Apple based)
-- Strong work ethic and ability to work with others

Compensation
-- Competitive starting salary up to $55,000
