Manual Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join our team. In this role, you will operate traditional, non-CNC machinery to manufacture and repair precision parts. You will handle projects from start to finish, including setup, tool selection, and quality inspection. This is a great opportunity for a craftsman who enjoys hands-on variety rather than repetitive button-pushing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate manual lathes to perform turning, facing, boring, and threading operations.
  • Operate manual end mills for precise drilling, slotting, contouring, and keying.
  • Read blueprints, technical drawings, and engineering sketches accurately.
  • Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for various materials (steel, aluminum, brass, plastics).
  • Measure and inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
  • Perform routine maintenance on shop machinery to ensure safe operation.
  • Collaborate with the team to solve mechanical problems and optimize repair jobs.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven experience as a Manual Machinist (minimum 4-5 years preferred).
  • Strong proficiency with manual lathes and manual milling machines.
  • Expertise in using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong mathematical skills related to machining math and geometry.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Welding capabilities and experience are a plus

Benefits & Schedule

  • Schedule: Full-time, Day shift (Monday – Thursday), 5am – 3pm.
  • Pay: Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
  • Environment: Air-conditioned small shop atmosphere.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
