Job Description:
- Set up and operate manual mill and lathe.
- Machine custom, prototype, repair, and production components to specified tolerances.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, and specifications.
- Select appropriate tooling, cutting speeds, feeds, and work holding methods.
- Measure and inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and indicators.
- Perform layout work, drilling, tapping, boring, threading, and other machining operations.
- Modify or repair existing components as required.
- Maintain equipment and ensure a clean, safe work environment.
- Work independently while managing multiple projects and priorities.
- Collaborate with the production department, engineers, and shop personnel to determine machining requirements.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience operating manual mills and lathes (more experience preferred).
- Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling, materials, and tolerances.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints.
- Experience producing custom, prototype, or low-volume parts.
- Proficient with precision measuring equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot setups and machining processes.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CNC equipment is a plus.
- Knowledge of repair machining and reverse engineering from existing parts.
- Experience working with steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and plastics.
