Job Title: Manual QA Tester (Strong SQL)

Location: Reston, VA (100% Onsite)

Employment Type: Contract / Full-Time (as applicable)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Manual QA Tester with strong SQL expertise to join our team in Reston, VA. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in manual testing along with the ability to write and execute complex SQL queries for data validation and backend testing. This is a fully onsite role requiring close collaboration with development and business teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform manual testing of web and/or enterprise applications.
• Design, develop, and execute test cases, test scenarios, and test plans .
• Conduct backend/database testing using SQL queries.
• Write and execute complex SQL queries (joins, subqueries, aggregations) for data validation.
• Validate data integrity between UI and database.
• Identify, log, and track defects using tools like JIRA or similar.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to understand requirements.
• Participate in test planning, test execution, and defect triage meetings .
• Ensure quality standards and best practices are followed throughout the SDLC.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in Manual Testing / QA .
• Strong hands-on experience with SQL coding (must-have).
• Experience in database testing and data validation .
• Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries (joins, stored procedures, functions) .
• Experience with defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, ALM).
• Solid understanding of SDLC and STLC processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments .
• Knowledge of API testing (Postman/SoapUI) is a plus.
• Basic understanding of automation is a plus (not required).
