POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking for a talented Manufacturing Engineer to oversee and improve manufacturing processes. The Manufacturing Engineer's responsibilities include identifying areas for improvement and maintaining high levels of manufacturing efficiency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluating and developing manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors as required.
- Provide manufacturing decision-making information by performing time studies, calculating production, labor, and material costs, estimating future requirements.
- Work with peers to design and plan workflows, material flow, and space requirements for the best efficiency.
- Work with peers to design and manipulate factory layouts in CAD to improve manufacturing workflow efficiency.
- Identify production constraints and throughput issues using root cause analysis and establish/implement proper corrective action plans.
- Develop and revise Standard Work Instruction to reflect process and/or element changes.
- Identify Non-value-added and unbalanced activities and develop processes that eliminate or reduce as much as possible.
- Reviews and approves manufacturing and assembly instructions for adequate point of inspection operations; determines appropriate documentation for inspection points. Assists with the development of finished product and component receiving inspection procedures and requirements.
- Supervises and/or conducts quality control reviews at established inspection points. Verifies and maintains quality control records. Recruits, trains, and supports quality personnel to assure effective and competent performance of the quality function.
- Participates in the review of all design, manufacturing, purchasing, and test documentation to assure conformance to quality control standards. This can include a review of drawings, specification sheets, production procedures, testing and inspection standards, vendor inspections, and customer contract specifications. Reviews and oversees the implementation of engineering change notices and related document change control. Makes recommendations regarding facilities, equipment, personnel, procedures, and systems to carry out quality control functions.
- Supervises tagging and quarantine procedures for rejection of in-process, finished product, and component receiving inspection areas. Authorizes rework, scrap, or return to vendor decisions; consults and reviews with upper management, as necessary.
- Prepares and reviews complaint (quality) trends. Reports serious or repeated failures or unreliability in the quality of products. Recommends corrective actions or plans/programs for overall defect reductions in products.
- Performs other quality control functions as necessary or as requested.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
- At least three years of experience as a manufacturing engineer required or CO-OP experience in a manufacturing environment.
- LEAN Six Sigma certification is preferred with experience implementing LEAN principles in manufacturing environment(s)

- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
