Job Summary
This position is responsible for providing engineering leadership and support to production for all plant processes and mechanical equipment. The Manufacturing Engineer plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes to maximize efficiency, quality, and safety. You will drive continuous improvement through equipment optimization, troubleshooting, and the design/re-engineering of manufacturing systems. A vital component of this mission is the creation and management of essential manufacturing documentation—including production forms, technical documents, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)—to ensure process standardization and repeatability on the production floor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

New Business Setup & Engineering Specifications

Create technical drawing specifications and CAD drawings (using SolidWorks/Autodesk) when required for new order setups to ensure products meet customer requirements.

● Provide technical support to Sales during the contract review process by conducting feasibility studies to verify that customer specifications can be met.

● Establish machine cycle times and production targets for new business

● Determine needs for existing and new tooling to meet product requirements and support sales in acquiring new business.

Machine SME, Qualification & Operations

● Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the operation of new and existing machinery; develop process parameters to resolve inefficiencies.

● Lead the installation and engineering qualification of new manufacturing equipment, ensuring it is ready for production use.

● Establish and document optimal operating parameters and machine settings for every product being ran on the machine.

● Create, implement, and update Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure operators run equipment correctly and safely.

● Collaborate closely with the Process Engineer during machine qualifications to align mechanical settings with material processing capabilities.

● Keep machine throughput and labor metrics up to date to support accurate product quoting and profitability analysis for the Sales Department.

Continuous Improvement & Performance Monitoring

● Monitor daily production KPIs and check work to confirm that production targets are being met.

● Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) to determine process stability and capability, analyzing results to drive continuous improvement.

● Partake in Internal Audits to identify areas for continuous improvement (CI) and lead CI projects.

● Research and implement new technology or machine improvements to increase production efficiencies and product quality.

● Facilitate root cause analysis for equipment failures or process deviations and lead successful corrective actions.

High-Value Customer Qualification

● Serve as the dedicated engineer for high-value accounts, managing the product development cycle from R&D through finished product.

● Oversee engineering qualification trials for high-spec products to ensure quality standards are met. (i.e. Semiconductor, biopharma, and medical customers)

● Analyze quality issues, such as film extrusion defects or sealing issues on conversion machines, to ensure customer satisfaction.

Qualification Requirements

Minimum Technical Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in plastic extrusion, film conversion engineering, or related continuous manufacturing.

Education: BS degree preferred in Manufacturing Engineering, Polymer Science, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering.

Language: Bilingual in Spanish and English.

Mechanical Aptitude: Exceptional intuitive understanding of mechanical processes and equipment functionality.

Technical Expertise: Knowledge of blown film extrusion, film conversion, and customized tooling.

Preferred Technical Qualifications

Design Software: Proficiency in design programs such as SolidWorks, Autodesk, etc..

Problem Solving: Demonstrated history of leading problem-solving activities and analyzing complex issues involving equipment and tooling.

Project Management: Results-oriented with the ability to juggle multiple projects, respond to urgent needs, and meet deadlines.

Collaboration: Ability to lead or participate in teams and coordinate activities with other departments to achieve business goals.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
