Manufacturing Engineer

This position requires a self-motivated "hands on" engineer with the ability to identify and solve practical manufacturing process problems on the shop floor. The ideal candidate will have effective communication skills and will be required to work closely with the manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams to provide technical support & problem solving of assembly & test issues on the manufacturing floor. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, with a desire to "roll up their sleeves" to help the team get the job done. In this role you will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing & optimizing existing manufacturing processes to increase efficiency using lean manufacturing methods.


You will be required to interpret engineering drawing packages and sales write-ups to assemble and test products in accordance with customer and quality requirements including UL. You will assist the directing manager to plan necessary manpower and equipment to complete production and testing functions efficiently, effectively, and in accordance with production schedules.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to shop floor
  • Liaison between shop floor & engineering
  • Identify and implement improvements to manufacturing and testing processes and equipment
  • Lead process improvement projects
  • Maintain and assist in the development of process measures
  • Communicate project status with Directing Manager
  • Identify, develop, and conduct training for Operations team

Education and Experience

  • Lean engineering, project management, and manufacturing operations experience is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience is required.
  • Manufacturing engineering experience is required.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Desire to work in hands on, shop floor environment
  • Experience using test/inspection equipment
  • Knowledge and understanding of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Kaizen
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings.

Position Demands
  • Heavy lifting required during some processes
  • Capable of lifting at least 50 lbs.

Work Hazards

    • Assembly operations consist of working in an environment that requires the use of hazards materials and operations consisting of chemicals, paint, and potential burn hazards.
    • Risk of electrical shock
