Job Summary

Outerwild Manufacturing is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineer to support our growing precision machining operations. This role will be responsible for reviewing and creating technical drawings, developing manufacturing processes, and optimizing production efficiency across our CNC machining operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in machining environments and a solid understanding of GD&T, process development, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review customer drawings and models to ensure manufacturability and compliance with specifications
  • Create and revise technical drawings, process documentation, and work instructions
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes to improve quality, efficiency, and cycle times
  • Collaborate with CNC programmers, machinists, and quality personnel to resolve production challenges
  • Support fixture design and tooling selection for new and existing products
  • Participate in first article inspections (FAI) and assist with root cause analysis for nonconformances
  • Maintain accurate documentation within the company’s ERP and quality management systems
  • Work closely with the quality team to ensure compliance with internal standards and customer requirements
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the production environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or machining environment
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawings
  • Experience with SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar CAD software
  • Familiarity with CNC machining processes and tooling
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Preferred Experience

  • Precision machining or aerospace/defense manufacturing
  • Fixture design and process optimization
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
