Manufacturing Operations Systems Planner

Manufacturing Operations Systems Planner

Picture your morning on the production floor: you review today’s targets, tune the build plan, check SYSPRO/SFI for any data mismatches, and confirm that every station has the right materials to keep work moving. By midday, you’ve cleared a shortage with Supply Chain, coached a technician through a system transaction issue, and aligned Engineering and Software on an update to routings. By afternoon, you’re verifying end-of-line parts, packaging and documentation, securing approvals, and tracking shipments to ensure customers receive on time, every time.

What you’ll do

  • Own daily and weekly build plans anchored to output goals, material positions, and crew capacity.
  • Detect flow bottlenecks early and adjust plans, routings, or staffing to protect throughput.
  • Monitor material availability continuously and drive rapid resolution of any shortages affecting planned builds.
  • Stage components at workstations to enable uninterrupted flow and maximize utilization.
  • Partner with Supply Chain on procurement status, lead times, and replenishment strategies.
  • Maintain SYSPRO/SFI data integrity—structures, routings, BOMs, and work instructions—to reflect true build logic.
  • Oversee system transactions to keep WIP, inventory, and shipment visibility accurate and current.
  • Serve as the floor’s go-to resource for system errors, user training, and process change rollouts.
  • Own end-of-line part verification and shipment tracking, including packaging, documentation, and customer handoff requirements.
  • Coordinate cross-functional approvals to hit customer delivery dates.
  • Surface planning, documentation, or logic gaps and lead improvements across teams.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Software to evolve manufacturing system functionality.

Qualifications

  • Experience/Education: 4+ years of hands-on experience in production planning, manufacturing systems, industrial engineering, or a closely related function.
  • ERP/MES Mastery: Demonstrated experience creating routings and BOMs and maintaining structures within an ERP or MES platform (SYSPRO/SFI strongly preferred).
  • Operations Fluency: Deep grasp of build planning, WIP flow, inventory control, and shipping processes in a high-mix, mid-volume setting.
  • Systems Thinking: Strong analytical skills and an ability to connect data to decisions.
  • Cross-Functional Execution: Proven success working across Operations, Engineering, Software, and Program teams on complex hardware programs.
  • Start-up Readiness: Prior manufacturing start-up experience and comfort with rapid change.
  • Technical Aptitude: Ability to safely operate and troubleshoot custom manufacturing and metrology equipment.
  • Organization & Detail: Exceptional prioritization and attention to detail.
  • Team Communication: Clear communicator and collaborative partner who enjoys tackling challenges on a high-performance team.
