General Summary:

This role involves developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing processes for increased safety, to raise efficiency, reduce cost, and improve product quality. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering principles, a strong eye for detail, and the ability to work cross-functionally with other teams. Performs routine functions in a chemical laboratory, manufacturing, and office setting, assists technical personnel (Quality Control, Research and Development, and Production).

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Process Design and Implementation: Design and implement manufacturing processes, systems, and equipment by applying engineering principles and analysis. Develop process flow diagrams, layout plans, and capacity projections.

2. Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance production efficiency, capacity, and quality.

3. Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the quality assurance team to define quality requirements for manufacturing processes. Develop and implement process control techniques and procedures.

4. Troubleshooting: Analyze manufacturing process flows for the enhancements of quality, cost reduction, and throughput. Diagnose and troubleshoot process issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.

5. Project Management: Lead and manage projects related to process development and improvement, equipment installation, and start-up. Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

6. Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed documentation, including process maps, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process improvement reports.

7. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with R&D, production, maintenance, and other departments to facilitate process improvements and resolve process-related issues.

8. Training: Develop and provide training for production staff on new processes, technologies, and equipment to ensure smooth implementation and operation.

9. Safety and Environmental Assurance: Evaluates processes, equipment and procedures to ensure compliance with all environmental and safety rules and regulations.

10. Perform Other Duties as Assigned: Conducts basic testing in different chemical products, generates, posts, and sends Certificate of Analysis, assists R&D with routine basic quality and analytical testing, and supports activities in manufacturing (small batches), when required.

Knowledge & Background Requirements:

Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering preferred; however, will consider degrees in Industrial Engineering and Mechanical Engineering with0 - 2 years professional experience preferred.

Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Ability to conduct rigorous data analysis, and the application of statistical methods to understand process variations and optimize performance. Ability to perform complex math functions, compute ratios, rates and percentages.

Ability to effectively communicate with other team members.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.

Physical Requirements: Frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Expected to react to odors, typically present in a chemical laboratory. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: Laboratory, office, and manufacturing environment.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
