Manufacturing Quality and Safety Engineer

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Manufacturing Quality and Safety Engineer to join our innovative manufacturing team.

Overall Purpose: The Manufacturing Quality and Safety Engineer will support the Engineering and Purchasing departments to resolve quality issues by creating and implementing inspection plans while collaborating with various departments to resolve quality issues and improve processes. They will also monitor the manufacturing floor to maintain safety regulations, ensuring worker safety.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Create, implement, and maintain inspection plans and dimensional inspection reports to ensure product compliance with specifications.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering department to ensure quality inspections are supported by proper interpretation of engineering drawings and specification requirements.
  • Coordinate and liaise with the production floor to address non-conformances and perform containment actions as needed.
  • Support vendor inquiries related to inspection methods, acceptance criteria, and product rejections.
  • Assess historical rejection and supplier performance data to support prioritization of quality risk mitigation efforts and recommend appropriate RCCA measures as necessary.
  • Establish and document standardized inspection methods and work instructions by product family or process, incorporating inspection technology, and periodically audit existing procedures to ensure accuracy and applicability.
  • Adhere to 5S Standards.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, policies for attendance and punctuality and standards for safety.

Ensure compliance with all in-house rules on health, the environment, quality and the safety of people and property in and around the plant.

  • Monitor regulatory compliance for facilities, procedures and products.
  • Help to increase safety and minimize risks by fostering a “safety and environment” mindset among employees.
  • Provide advice and expert input to the plant’s various units.

Familiarity with health, safety, quality and environmental procedures and good knowledge of conditions in the field.

  • Effective use of communication resources.
  • Determination, thoroughness, ability to communicate and training skills.

Apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes related to health and safety.

  • Review plans for new machinery and equipment to make sure that they meet safety requirements
  • Inspect facilities, machinery, safety equipment, or products to identify and recommend corrective action for potential hazards
  • Participate in Investigations of the cause of industrial accidents or injuries
  • Direct the installation of safety devices as needed
  • Create new or review existing employee safety programs and recommend improvements

Communication skills. Prepare and present training materials to workers. They must be able to clearly explain regulations and procedures to a variety of audiences.

Critical-thinking skills. must be able to interpret regulations and their intent so that they can propose designs for specific worksites.

Interpersonal skills. interact with workers across an organization to evaluate safety programs, identify potential hazards, and recommend corrective actions. They also must be able to develop a rapport with employers and employees when interviewing them during investigations.

Observational skills. must be able to identify hazards before those hazards damage health or property.

Problem-solving skills. must be able to identify issues with safety processes or products and recommend ways to improve them.

Pay: $67,665.77 - $73,000.00 per year
