Manufacturing Software Engineer

Job Summary
Takt Engineering is seeking a Software Engineer with hands-on Manufacturing Execution System (MES) experience to support engineering and operations programs in a manufacturing environment. The primary focus of this role is MES configuration, integration, and operator-facing UI development. Secondary work includes building rapid prototype tools and dashboards that translate operational workflows into functional software. This is the right role for a developer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, knows how MES platforms work, and can build clean front-end interfaces when the mission requires it.

Responsibilities

• Configure, extend, and support MES platforms to meet production requirements, including work order management, production routing, quality hold and disposition workflows, and operator work instruction delivery.
• Design and build operator-facing MES screens, step-by-step work instruction interfaces, and production dashboards that are clear, durable, and usable on the shop floor.
• Integrate MES with adjacent systems including ERP, PLM, quality management, and data historians using REST APIs, OPC-UA, database connectors, or platform-native integration tooling.
• Define and enforce MES data collection requirements for production, quality records, and traceability; ensure shop-floor data capture is accurate, complete, and audit-ready.
• Support MES deployment, testing, and rollout activities including operator training, floor validation, and troubleshooting production issues as they arise during live operations.

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 2 years in an industrial, manufacturing, or defense environment.
• Hands-on experience configuring or developing within at least one MES platform.
• Proficiency in at least one language used for rapid tool and integration development; experience with REST APIs and data integration patterns.
• Demonstrated ability to build functional operator-facing interfaces and integrate front ends with back-end services and industrial data sources.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.

Pay: $80.00 - $110.00 per hour
