Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced MariaDB Administrator (DBA) with 5+ years of hands-on experience in managing, maintaining, optimizing, and securing MariaDB database environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring database availability, performance, reliability, and security across production and non-production environments.
Database Administration
Install, configure, and upgrade MariaDB Server in Linux/Unix environments. Manage database instances in production, UAT, and development environments. Monitor database health, availability, and performance. Perform routine database maintenance tasks. Performance & Tuning Analyze slow queries and optimize SQL performance. Tune database parameters for optimal throughput and latency. Manage indexing strategies and query execution plans. Implement performance monitoring tools.
Backup & Recovery
Design and manage backup strategies (logical and physical backups). Perform point-in-time recovery (PITR). Test backup and restore procedures regularly. Implement disaster recovery (DR) solutions. High Availability & Replication Configure and manage replication (Master-Slave, Master-Master). Implement clustering solutions (Galera Cluster preferred). Troubleshoot replication lag and synchronization issues. Ensure minimal downtime and failover readiness.
Security & Compliance
Implement database security best practices. Manage user access, roles, and privileges. Apply patches and security updates. Perform database audits and compliance checks.
Automation & Scripting
Develop automation scripts using Bash, Python, or Ansible. Automate monitoring, backups, and deployments. Support DevOps pipelines and CI/CD integrations. Troubleshooting & Support Diagnose and resolve database-related incidents. Provide Level 1support for application teams. Participate in on-call support rotation. Documentation Maintain database architecture diagrams and documentation. Document procedures for backup, recovery, and failover.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field. 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator. Strong hands-on experience with MariaDB / MySQL architecture. Experience with: oReplication & clustering (Galera preferred) oPerformance tuning oBackup tools Strong Linux administration skills. Experience with monitoring tools. Understanding of TCP/IP, networking, and system-level performance. Experience in cloud environments (AWS, Azure) is a plus. Saudi Nationality is a must.
