Job Purpose:
The Lead Mechanic is a highly-skilled mechanic who services and repairs electrical and mechanical equipment on marine vessels. They are tasked with the overseeing all repairs and maintenance of all marine engines including outboard motors and inboard motors from the mechanics in the department.
Job Duties:
- Adheres to the Gasparilla Inn 4 Steps to Memorable Service.
- Exhibits the Gasparilla Inn Core Values.
- Responsible for supervising and coordinating all repair and maintenance duties.
- Prioritizes and distributes work according to the most urgent needs.
- Perform repairs and maintenance as required.
- Processing warranty claims.
- Works on complex mechanical problems for Mercury motors.
- Diagnoses problems and repairs as required.
- Follow and enforce safety rules, OSHA regulations and administrative and operational policies and procedures.
- Excellent knowledge of hydraulic and electrical engines and other systems and their components.
- All other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions and Assignments:
This position is will spend approximately 75% of their time in the shop and 25% of time in an office setting. The position requires bending, twisting, kneeling pushing, pulling, and a moderate degree of physical exertion while transporting equipment or guest items of which will be approximately 100 lbs.
This position will need to be able to safely drive a golf cart and may have frequent exposure to outside weather conditions throughout the day. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have own tools and reliable transportation.
- Mercury Technician Certification
- Knowledge of Mercury product
- Knowledge of G3 software
- Knowledge of MercNet
Preferred:
- Five Years Lead Shop Manager Experience
- Knowledge of all other brands of outboard engines
