Marine Electrician

Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Marine Electrician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems on marine vessels and related equipment. Your expertise will ensure the safe and efficient operation of electrical components in a demanding maritime environment.

Duties

  • Install, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, systems, and components on marine vessels using schematics and technical manuals.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical drawings to accurately diagnose issues and implement solutions.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on electrical systems, including wiring assemblies, power distribution units, lighting, and control panels.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, calipers, and precision measuring instruments to perform precise repairs and installations.
  • Perform rigging tasks related to electrical systems, ensuring secure mounting and proper integration with mechanical components.
  • Engage in fabrication activities such as sheet metal work and welding to support custom electrical installations or repairs.
  • Assist with vehicle maintenance tasks when necessary, including heavy lifting and mechanical troubleshooting to support overall vessel operations.
  • Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding system status and maintenance needs.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety standards, including proper use of ohmmeters for testing electrical continuity and insulation resistance.
  • Support ongoing maintenance programs to enhance vessel reliability and safety through proactive inspections.

Experience

  • Proven service technician experience in electrical systems within marine or heavy industrial environments.
  • Strong knowledge of schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals specific to marine or vehicle applications.
  • Military background or experience working in highly regulated environments is a plus.
  • Extensive electrical experience with hands-on skills in soldering, welding, fabrication, and assembly of complex systems.
  • Familiarity with mechanical knowledge related to rigging, sheet metal work, and general maintenance procedures.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, calipers, ohmmeters, multimeters, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Prior mechanic experience or vehicle maintenance background is advantageous for understanding integrated systems.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during installation or repair tasks.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members.
