Marine Mechanic - Outboard Engines

Duties

  • Diagnose and repair outboard engines using schematics, electrical testing, and mechanical inspection techniques
  • Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, gear adjustments, and system calibrations to maximize engine longevity
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments to assemble, disassemble, and fabricate engine components
  • Interpret technical diagrams and schematics to troubleshoot electrical systems and wiring within outboard motors
  • Conduct heavy lifting of engine parts and components safely while adhering to safety protocols
  • Maintain detailed service records, logs, and reports for each repair or maintenance task performed

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a service technician or mechanic with a focus on outboard engines or marine propulsion systems
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with familiarity in schematics, electrical systems, and fabrication techniques
  • Experience with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering techniques, and heavy lifting safely
  • Ability to read technical diagrams and schematics accurately for troubleshooting purposes
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance principles applicable to marine engines and related systems
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to clients
  • Familiarity with sheet metal work, rigging procedures, and the use of precision measuring instruments such as calipers is advantageous
