Marine Purchaser – Experienced
Job Summary
The Marine Purchaser is responsible for procuring technical, operational, and consumable materials required to support vessel operations and maintenance. This role requires strong negotiation skills, knowledge of marine equipment and supplier markets, and the ability to ensure timely, cost-effective purchasing in compliance with company procedures and maritime regulations.
Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement & Sourcing
- Source and procure marine spare parts, machinery, equipment, and consumables for vessels and marine operations.
- Previous experience in marine company
- Identify reliable suppliers and maintain strong vendor relationships.
- Obtain competitive quotations, evaluate proposals, and carry out cost/quality analysis.
- Ensure purchased items meet vessel technical specifications, class requirements, and safety standards.
Order Management
- Create, issue, and manage Purchase Orders (POs) using ERP systems
- Coordinate with logistics teams for shipment, customs clearance, and delivery to vessels or warehouses.
Technical Coordination
- Verify part numbers, equipment specifications, and compatibility with vessel systems.
Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, quotes, supplier evaluations, and contracts.
Vendor & Cost Management
- Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, credit terms, and long-term supply agreements.
- Evaluate supplier performance and update approved vendor lists.
Skills & QualificationsRequired
- Proven experience as a Marine Purchaser or Marine Procurement Officer.
- Strong knowledge of marine spare parts, deck/engine stores, and maritime supply markets.
- Familiarity with vessel technical documentation and marine equipment catalogues.
- Proficiency with procurement or fleet management ERP systems.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and vendor-management skills.
- Ability to handle urgent requests and work under pressure.
- Good understanding of import/export processes and logistics.
Preferred
- Experience in offshore, ship management, shipyard, or marine services industries.
