Job Purpose
The Marine QA/QC Engineer shall be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining the Quality Assurance and Quality Control systems for marine works, with specific emphasis on floating structures, including pontoons, floating breakwaters, jetties, and associated marine accessories. The role ensures that all works are executed in full compliance with approved specifications, drawings, applicable standards, and contractual requirements.
Minimum Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of proven experience in marine QA/QC, with direct hands-on experience in floating structures (pontoons, floating breakwaters, floating jetties, gangways).
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of marine construction standards (BS, EN, ISO, ASTM, ACI, PIANC guidelines).
- Certification in ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with FIDIC-based contracts and consultant/client inspection procedures.
- Previous experience working with consultants, client representatives, and third-party inspectors.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Plan (PQP) and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) for marine and floating structures.
- Ensure all QA/QC procedures align with contract requirements, approved method statements, and relevant international standards.
- Conduct internal audits and ensure timely closure of NCRs, CARs, and observations.
Quality Control – Floating Structures
- Inspect fabrication and production of concrete, steel, aluminium, and hybrid floating structures, including reinforcement, formwork, concreting, curing, coatings, and fittings.
- Monitor installation activities such as launching, towing, positioning, anchoring, mooring systems, and gangway installation.
- Verify material compliance, including concrete, reinforcement, EPS, coatings, fasteners, chains, anchors, and marine hardware.
- Review and approve material submittals, shop drawings, method statements, and technical submittals from a QA/QC perspective.
Testing & Documentation
- Ensure all required inspections and tests are conducted, witnessed, and documented (concrete testing, coating inspections, weld inspections, dimensional checks).
- Maintain accurate QA/QC records, including MIRs, WIRs, checklists, test reports, and as-built documentation.
- Support final inspections, snag closure, and handover documentation.
Interface & Compliance
- Coordinate QA/QC activities with construction, engineering, HSE, consultants, and client representatives.
- Ensure compliance with marine authority requirements and approved regulatory standards.
- Provide technical support and guidance to site and production teams on quality-related matters.
