Position Overview
The Marketing Analyst Intern will support the PADNOS Marketing team by turning operational data from 23 recycling centers into actionable insights. This role will focus on identifying trends, developing seasonal indices, profiling key customer segments, and recommending data-driven campaigns to support customer retention and re-engagement (“earn-back”) across our recycling network.
This position is ideal for an analytical, detail-oriented student or early-career professional interested in combining data analytics with real-world marketing strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Trend Analysis: Track recycling center volume, visit frequency, and material trends across 23 locations.
- Customer Segmentation: Identify high-value and at-risk customers, including overlapping customer bases between nearby locations.
- Seasonal Index Development: Build seasonal performance indices by material category, customer type, and location to identify peak periods and marketing opportunities.
- Campaign Ideation: Collaborate with marketing and operations to outline potential campaigns for retention, reactivation, and customer engagement.
- KPI Development: Define and measure key performance indicators for marketing effectiveness, customer retention, and transaction growth.
- Data Visualization: Create dashboards, pivot tables, and reports summarizing key findings and campaign performance.
- Competitive and Market Insights: Research local recycling competitors and community trends to identify new opportunities for outreach.
Deliverables
By the end of the internship, the intern will:
1. Deliver a Recycling Center Trend Report summarizing traffic, customer behavior, and material patterns.
2. Create a Customer Segmentation Matrix identifying key accounts, overlapping customers, and re-engagement opportunities.
3. Develop Seasonal Index Tables for major commodities and customer types.
4. Propose 3–5 data-backed campaign concepts for customer retention or reactivation.
5. Define Marketing KPIs Dashboard (with metrics such as visit frequency, unique customers, and campaign ROI).
Qualifications
- Pursuing a degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, or related field.
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, correlation analysis).
- Experience or coursework in data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar) preferred.
- Comfortable interpreting large data sets and presenting findings clearly.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Interest in sustainability, recycling, or environmental marketing a plus.
