Job Title: Marketing & Communications – Social Media Student Position
Reports To: Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Who: Open to all current OSU students with interest in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or other related fields.
Nature of Work:
Join the OSU Alumni Association team for a fulfilling position that puts you at the forefront of the alumni communication and marketing efforts. Work with the alumni staff to develop and execute various marketing/communication projects to promote events, programs, and alumni association membership. This position is designed to be an exciting and challenging experience that develops valuable, real-world skills.
Responsibilities:

Work as a team to implement marketing/communication projects under guidance of alumni staff.

Assist with reconnecting alumni to the university through membership in the OSU Alumni Association.

Participates in the creation and execution of social media and other varying communication strategies.

Develops a social media communications plan.

Coordinates daily content and schedules posts ahead of time.

Coordinates daily organic social media posts according to the content strategy plan.
- Carefully constructs content to be written in a consistent tone and style while ensuring copy is clear, informal, accurate and informative.

Monitors social media platforms, engaging with audience members where appropriate, answering questions, correcting misinformation, or directing them to relevant resources.
- Utilizes analytics to adjust content, provide reporting and determine best strategies for social media presence.

Monitors changing social media trends. Follows best practices, current industry trends and audience specific preferences.

Under general direction, identifies newsworthy issues and events that affect Alumni Association.

Attendance at evening and weekend events are required per supervisor’s direction.

Coordinates with supervisor and follows association policies.

Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills

Work Environment:
This position is housed in an office setting within the OSU Alumni Center. The alumni office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Students are expected to work 20 hours per week during office hours. Some weekend and evening hours are required.
