Marketing and Development Director

The Marketing and Development Director for the Blue Mountain Council, Scouting America, plays a vital role in advancing the mission of Scouting throughout Southeastern Washington and Northeastern Oregon. This position leads strategic efforts to increase visibility, community engagement, and philanthropic support for Scouting programs that prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes. Marketing & Communications

• Develop and execute a Council-wide marketing and communications strategy that promotes Scouting programs, events, and community impact.
• Manage all digital and print communications, including the Council website, social media channels, newsletters, press releases, and promotional materials.
• Ensure brand consistency and compelling storytelling across all platforms.
• Build relationships with local media outlets to increase coverage of Scouting activities and achievements.

Fundraising & Development

• Supports the Council’s fundraising initiatives, including Friends of Scouting campaigns, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, grants, and special events.
• Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, community leaders, and business partners.
• Oversee donor recognition programs and ensure timely impact reporting.
• Support the Board of Directors and volunteers in fundraising efforts and donor outreach.

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, nonprofit management, or related field.

• Demonstrated success in donor cultivation, campaign management, and digital marketing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Passion for the mission of Scouting and commitment to youth development.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with donor management systems, Blackbaud preferred.
• Graphic design and content creation capabilities.
• Event planning and community engagement experience.
• Familiarity with Scouting programs and values is highly desirable.

• Salary Range: $26/hr – $32/hr, depending on experience and qualifications.
