Position Overview

The Marketing and Social Media Coordinator is a key support role within the Bend Chamber’s Marketing and Communications team, providing communications support across both the Bend Chamber and its nonprofit arm, BendNEXT Foundation. This position executes day-to-day communications, elevate both organizations’ brands, and ensure consistent, high-quality messaging across all channels.

This role blends strong writing, visual storytelling, and digital engagement. The ideal candidate is both creative and detail-oriented, with a passion for connecting with audiences through compelling content and thoughtful design. This is a fast-paced, collaborative position with opportunities to contribute meaningfully to the visibility and impact of both organizations in the community.

Position-Related Duties and Responsibilities

Bend Chamber & BendNEXT Communications (40%)

  • Draft, edit, and proofread communications for both organizations, including newsletters, email campaigns, blog posts, website content, and member/program communications
  • Assist in developing and maintaining consistent voice and brand standards across both the Chamber and BendNEXT
  • Support media relations efforts, including drafting press releases and coordinating outreach
  • Maintain and update website content for both entities

Social Media & Digital Engagement (30%)

  • Plan, create, and schedule social media content for both the Bend Chamber and BendNEXT Foundation
  • Monitor engagement, respond to comments/messages, and foster online community interaction
  • Track performance metrics and recommend improvements based on insights
  • Support campaigns promoting events, programs, and initiatives across both organizations

Design & Visual Storytelling (20%)

  • Create graphics and visual assets for digital and print use across both brands (social media, newsletters, presentations, advertising, etc.)
  • Ensure brand consistency across all visual materials
  • Support basic photography and video content creation at events and programs

Marketing & Team Support (10%)

  • Assist with marketing campaigns, promotions, and event communications for both the Chamber and BendNEXT
  • Coordinate email marketing efforts using platforms such as Constant Contact or similar tools
  • Support cross-functional projects and special initiatives as assigned
  • Maintain organized content calendars and shared asset libraries

Your Key Attributes and Skills

  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with attention to tone and audience
  • Graphic design fluency with an eye for clean, engaging visual content
  • Experience managing social media platforms in a professional setting
  • Proficiency with communication and marketing tools (e.g., Constant Contact, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office suite, and social media scheduling platforms)
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Creative thinker who brings fresh ideas and a solutions-oriented mindset
  • Ability to manage and balance priorities across two aligned but distinct organizations
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Position Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in communications, marketing, graphic design, social media, or a related professional setting
  • Experience with email marketing platforms and content management systems preferred
  • Familiarity with analytics and performance tracking tools
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

Working Conditions

  • Primarily office-based with some flexibility for remote work
  • Regular attendance at Chamber and BendNEXT events for content capture and support
  • May require occasional evening or early morning work depending on events or deadlines
