About the Role
We are looking for an innovative and highly adaptable Marketing Coordinator to join our New York City team. In this role, you will create and spearhead marketing campaigns for a diverse and dynamic list of both frontlist and backlist titles.
The ideal candidate understands how to leverage digital platforms to manufacture word-of-mouth interest and knows how to position books for both niche audiences and mass-market success.
Key Responsibilities:
Ad Management: Build, monitor, and optimize paid media campaigns across social media platforms to drive pre-orders and sustained backlist sales.
Metadata Optimization: Continuously analyze trending titles and competitor keyword strategies to optimize title metadata, keywords, and BISAC codes, ensuring maximum organic discoverability online.
Platform-Specific Outreach: Spearhead targeted influencer outreach on TikTok and Instagram. Build and manage curated lists of niche content creators—such as children's literature influencers, parenting bloggers, or specialty reviewers—to secure unboxing videos and early reviews.
Grassroots Campaigns: Manage early-reader programs through platforms like Goodreads Giveaways and NetGalley to generate pre-publication buzz and consumer reviews.
Institutional & Specialty Sales: Identify and pitch non-traditional and institutional retail avenues, identifying cross-promotional opportunities with government-published (GPO) title networks, specialty gift shops, and corporate bulk-buy partners.
Targeted Audience Marketing: Design bespoke promotional strategies for hard-to-reach demographics. For example, utilizing strategic print media, direct mail, or specialized community Facebook groups to reach older demographics for "utility" and senior-focused titles.
Qualifications:
3–5 years of experience in book publishing marketing, digital marketing, or brand management.
Hands-on experience with AMS, Meta Ads Manager, NetGalley, Edelweiss, and email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Klaviyo).
The ability to pivot quickly and build robust marketing plans for "crash" publications or urgent, culturally relevant titles.
Experience tracking campaign ROI, analyzing point-of-sale data (Circana BookScan), and pulling actionable insights from digital ad metrics.
Exceptional copywriting and presentation skills, with a knack for distilling complex book concepts into catchy, consumer-facing hooks.
Please note, this position will begin as a part-time role, with the mutual goal of transitioning the successful candidate to a permanent, full-time position by the end of the year.
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
