Marketing Associate & Multimedia Designer

Summary/Objective:

Under the direction of the Director of Marketing, Communications and Operations, the Marketing Associate & Multimedia Designer is responsible for assisting with member communications on multiple channels. This is a dynamic, multi-faceted hybrid role. The ideal candidate will split their time between multi-page digital layout, digital video production, membership email marketing, and proactively driving advertising revenue for our flagship publications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Publication Layout & Design: Take ownership of the visual design, typesetting, and production layout for our primary publications, including the monthly Bulletin magazine and the annual Directory.
• Advertising Sales & Revenue Generation: Actively solicit, secure, and manage paid advertisements from law firms, legal vendors, and local businesses to meet revenue targets for the Bulletin and Directory.
• Video Editing & Production: Edit, enhance, and optimize raw video footage of Bar Association of Erie County and the Erie Institute of Law seminars to upload into our course catalog.
• Weekly Membership Email Communications: Manage, build, and distribute our weekly digital newsletter and targeted email campaigns, ensuring accurate, timely, and engaging delivery to our entire membership base.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Manage the association’s social media accounts, content creation, and social media calendar.
• Provide direct program, administrative, and creative support to the Director of Marketing, Communications, and Operations.
• Assist with creating and updating digital marketing collateral, website updates (WordPress), and general member engagement materials.
• Respond promptly to member inquiries.
• Attends staff meetings, events, and committee meetings as requested. Become familiar with members and help build relationships with members.
• Collaborate daily with a lean, fast-paced team to solve problems and maintain brand consistency.
• Conduct market research to identify marketing opportunities.
• Maintain and strengthen the organization’s brand.

Job Skills & Qualifications:

• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, with mastery of Adobe InDesign (for complex multi-page print layouts), Illustrator, and Photoshop.
• Proficient in video editing software, specifically Adobe Premiere Pro or similar, with the ability to handle intermediate edits (audio cleaning, basic graphics, pacing, and captioning).
• Strong familiarity with email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact, Mailchimp) and managing large contact lists.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of Content Management Systems (CMS) like WordPress is highly preferred.
• Sales Comfort: A proactive, resourceful, and resilient attitude toward outreach, cold-calling, and securing ad revenue.
• Incredible Attention to Detail: Critical for proofreading names, listings, and ad copy in print directories.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills; ability to pivot smoothly between design work and sales goals under tight print deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for working with members, committee chairs, and external advertisers.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree; work experience in graphic design, marketing or communications, or closely related field. Experience in legal or professional services is a plus.
