The Engagement
United Arts Collier (UAC), the officially designated Local Arts Agency for Collier County, seeks an experienced Marketing & Communications Consultant to provide strategic and executional communications services that strengthen UAC’s visibility, voice, and public presence across digital platforms, media, and community channels.
This engagement is structured as an independent contractor relationship. The consultant will deliver defined communications services and outputs in collaboration with UAC leadership, while retaining discretion over the manner and means by which the work is performed.
The consultant will support communications related to exhibitions, education programs, Arts & Health initiatives, advocacy efforts, and signature events, with an emphasis on clarity, consistency, and professional polish across all outward-facing communications.
Scope of Services
Strategic Communications & Systems Support
- Develop, refine, and deliver communications planning tools, including rolling content calendars, workflows, style guidance, documentation, and reporting templates.
- Provide recommendations and implementation support for consistent communications systems across platforms.
- Develop and update a communications calendar aligned with UAC programs, events, advocacy priorities, and fundraising initiatives.
- Track agreed-upon analytics and engagement metrics and provide summary insights to inform communications decisions.
- Support the efficiency and sustainability of UAC’s communications function through repeatable systems and clear documentation.
Digital & Social Media Services
- Develop and execute a social media content plan aligned with UAC’s strategic priorities.
- Plan, create, and schedule content across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and others as agreed.
- Support the launch of a TikTok presence for UAC, including initial content guidance and platform-specific branding considerations.
- Monitor performance metrics and adjust content approaches to optimize reach and engagement.
- Manage paid social campaigns, if applicable, within pre-approved budgets and scope.
Newsletter, Web, & Email Communications
- Prepare digital newsletters and web content highlighting UAC programs, events, advocacy updates, and community opportunities.
- Ensure consistency of voice, branding, and accuracy across deliverables.
- Support email list management and segmentation in coordination with UAC’s Development team using existing CRM tools.
Public Relations & Media Support
- Draft and distribute press releases for exhibitions, programs, events, and advocacy initiatives, as scoped.
- Support media outreach and relationship-building with local arts writers and media outlets.
- Coordinate press opportunities and interviews for UAC leadership when requested.
- Track and summarize press coverage and maintain a digital archive of media placements.
Brand & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with UAC staff to gather information needed to execute communications deliverables.
- Ensure brand consistency across all communications materials produced under this engagement.
- Provide communications support for Advancement initiatives, including donor- and member-facing storytelling content.
- Provide on-site communications support for select UAC events, as agreed in advance and scoped within contracted hours.
Engagement Structure
- Classification: Independent contractor
- Time Commitment: Estimated average of approximately 10 hours per week; workload may vary based on agreed priorities and deliverables
- Work Location: Primarily remote; limited in-person work may be required for select events or meetings
- Term: 12-month engagement, with continuation subject to mutual agreement
- Tools & Equipment: Consultant is responsible for their own tools, equipment, insurance, and tax obligations
Consultant Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field
- 3–5 years of professional experience in communications, social media management, or public relations (arts or nonprofit experience preferred)
- Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to adapt messaging for varied audiences and platforms
- Proficiency with digital communications tools such as social scheduling platforms, email marketing tools, Canva, and Google Workspace
- Familiarity with CRM or donor database systems (e.g., Keela, Salesforce, or similar)
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
- Interest in arts and culture and community engagement
Compensation
- Competitive hourly or monthly rate, commensurate with experience and scope
- Anticipated required hours: 10-15/week
