Location: Remote (Occasional travel for meetings as needed, but minimal)

Reports to: Managing Director

Salary: Salary range is $65,000-$95,000 and is commensurate with experience; full-time with benefits

Since 2014, Inner Strength Education has empowered over 32,000 students and 5,000 educators in the Philadelphia School District with research-based, CASEL-recommended programming. Our mission is to empower teens to realize their higher potential by teaching them skills that cultivate calm, curiosity, and care. With a proven curriculum and a dedicated team, we are expanding our reach locally and nationally, including into middle schools, after-school and summer programs, train-the-trainer models, and a pioneering AI Digital Coach.

Position Summary

Inner Strength Education seeks an experienced, creative, and strategic professional to serve as Marketing & Communications Director. This role guides all aspects of communications and marketing while supporting the creation of development resources. The Director will advance Inner Strength’s brand visibility, manage storytelling and audience engagement, and contribute to fundraising success.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that advances Inner Strength Education’s mission and goals.

Manage all external communications, including website content, newsletters, print/digital collateral, and annual reports.

Oversee social media strategy and execution across multiple platforms, monitor metrics, and audience engagement.

Write, edit, and coordinate press releases, feature stories, and media placements.

Collaborate with leadership on messaging for fundraising campaigns, grants, and strategic partnerships. Including preparing sponsorship packets, proposals, donor letters, appeal campaigns, and stewardship materials/impact reports.

Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop board meeting materials, including agendas, reports, and presentations to support our work with the Board of Directors.

Ensure brand consistency across all visual and written materials.

Partner with the team and classroom instructors to highlight impact stories, outcomes, and opportunities for funding and advocacy.

Expand reach through creative content (podcasts, thought leadership, national speaking).

Manage relationships with communications contractors, designers, or media partners.

Qualifications

5+ years of professional experience in marketing, communications, or public relations, ideally within the nonprofit or education sector.

Proven success in developing and implementing marketing and fundraising strategies that drive engagement and support.

Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills for diverse audiences and donor segments.

Experience creating donor materials, sponsorship packets, or other development resources.

Proficiency in digital platforms, including social media management tools, website CMS (e.g., WordPress), and email marketing software.

Strategic thinker able to translate goals into actionable plans.

Strong project management and organizational skills; ability to juggle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Appreciation for mindfulness, social-emotional learning, and personal development practices preferred.
