Brand Strategy & Stewardship

  • Own and evolve El Rio Grande’s brand strategy, ensuring it reflects our heritage, values, and promise to our customers.
  • Deliver clarity, simplification, and modernization of the brand while protecting authenticity and trust.
  • Ensure brand consistency across in-store, digital, media, promotions, and community initiatives.
  • Lead brand integration efforts for new stores, acquisitions, naming conventions, and sub-brands.
  • Serve as the internal authority on brand standards, guidelines, and best practices.

Marketing Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and channel strategy that drives traffic, sales, and customer engagement.
  • Translate business priorities into compelling, culturally relevant campaigns and promotions.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Merchandising, HR, and Finance to align messaging and execution.
  • Oversee external agencies, media partners, and vendors to ensure strong ROI and brand alignment.

Digital, Media & Customer Engagement

  • Collaborate closely with digital teams to ensure brand strategy is consistently reflected across all digital platforms.
  • Lead social media and content strategies that celebrate food, culture, family, and community.
  • Ensure messaging is bilingual, inclusive, and customer-centric across all channels.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing marketing team spanning design, messaging, media, and partners.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, creativity, and continuous improvement.
  • Educate and evangelize brand strategy internally to build shared ownership and pride.

Performance, Analytics & Budget Management

  • Develop and manage KPIs aligned with business objectives, including:
  • Foot traffic
  • Sales and revenue growth
  • ROAS and campaign effectiveness
  • Manage marketing budgets responsibly, balancing creativity with financial discipline.
  • Use data and insights to refine strategies and improve results.

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (Marketing, Business, or related field).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in marketing, branding, or consumer-facing roles.
  • Minimum of 5 years of people leadership experience, including full employee lifecycle management.
  • Proven experience leading integrated marketing strategies in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish required)
  • Strong background in retail, grocery, consumer marketing, or advertising.
  • Demonstrated expertise in social media, digital marketing, and media strategy.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Ability to balance financial discipline with creative execution.
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills in dynamic and sometimes ambiguous environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving, prioritization, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of people, teams, and partners.

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods (approximately 70% sitting, 20% walking, 10% standing).
  • Some bending, stooping, kneeling, and fine finger dexterity required.
  • Fast-paced retail and office environment with regular store visits.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or holidays as business needs require.
