Wesley House Community Center is a Christian ministry dedicated to empowering individuals and families in the Beaumont, Lonsdale, and Mechanicsville communities. Since 1907, we have worked to build a stronger, more connected community through faith-driven service. Our Youth Development Program fosters academic success, emotional well-being, and spiritual support to 100+ students. Our Senior Citizen Support Program combats social isolation by providing food, fun, and fellowship to underserved seniors, ensuring they remain engaged and supported. Through our Emergent Needs Program, we operate the Redbird Community Store, offering groceries, household essentials, clothing, and pet supplies to community members in need. Located less than a mile from Downtown Knoxville and the University of Tennessee, Wesley House remains committed to serving our neighbors with compassion, faith, and community-driven support.

The Marketing & Events Director will oversee the planning and execution of Wesley House’s signature fundraising events, as well as coordinate and strategize all marketing and communications efforts to strengthen brand awareness, community engagement, and donor support. This full-time, in-person position works closely with the Executive Director and Development Team to ensure that all events and communications align with Wesley House’s mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Marketing & Communications:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies and campaigns that strengthen brand awareness, drive community engagement, and support organizational goals.
  • Oversee all public relations opportunities including social media, graphic design, website management, and press releases.
  • Create graphics and promotional materials for events and programming, ensuring consistency with Wesley House brand and guidelines.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate an annual marketing and communications plan.
  • Curate social media content, schedule posts, and engage with followers across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).
  • Manage email campaigns and newsletters, maintaining alignment with Wesley House’s mission and goals.
  • Maintain and update the Wesley House website and other digital platforms.
  • Serve as brand “gatekeeper” internally and externally to ensure all communications uphold brand integrity.
  • Monitor marketing trends, analytics, and set measurable targets for audience growth and engagement.

Events & Fundraising:

  • Lead logistics and execution of Wesley House’s major events, including: Tablescapes (Goal: $20,000), Friends & Donors Breakfast (Goal: $30,000), and Masquerade Ball (Goal: $100,000)
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Development Team to align event vision, goals, and revenue strategies with Wesley House’s mission.
  • Secure and coordinate with venues, vendors, caterers, entertainment, and AV providers.
  • Manage budgets, track expenses and donations, and ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers and event committees.
  • Track RSVPs, manage guest lists, and coordinate ticket sales or registration platforms.
  • Prepare event reports, post-event evaluations, and donor acknowledgments.

General Responsibilities:

  • Represent Wesley House with professionalism, warmth, and mission alignment.
  • Ensure that daily actions and behavior align with the mission, vision, and cultural values of the organization.
  • Provide support for other Wesley House initiatives as time allows.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Event Management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in event coordination, nonprofit marketing, digital content creation, or communications preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Eventbrite, and website CMS platforms.
  • Experience with social media management, email marketing, and content creation.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously.
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain brand consistency.
  • Experience with photography, video editing, and storytelling is a plus.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends around events.
  • Passion for the mission of Wesley House and a commitment to equity, community, and creativity.

Schedule:
This is a full-time, in-person position based at Wesley House Community Center. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, with additional evening and weekend hours required to support events, donor engagement, and community programming. Remote work is not available.

Reports To: Senior Director of Advancement & Donor Engagement

Compensation: $50,000–$60,000 (includes benefits package—paid holidays, vacation and sick time, dental, health, and vision insurance, and retirement benefits).
