The mission of Lake Junaluska is to be a place of Christian hospitality where lives are transformed through renewal of soul, mind and body.
Located in the Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina, Lake Junaluska is a conference and retreat center that hosts more than 50,000 overnight guests annually. We have more than 400 lodging rooms, a campground and meeting space for up to 2,000 people. All of our facilities are located on a scenic 1,200-acre campus, which boasts panoramic views, abundant recreation opportunities and a 200-acre lake. Our market ranges from youth groups to leisure guests, primarily from the Southeastern U.S.
Summary
The marketing intern will report to the Director of Marketing and Communications and will play a significant role in helping Lake Junaluska grow our email contacts for marketing and communications initiatives. The marketing intern will also assist with replenishing marketing materials and brochures around the grounds and in key tourist areas. This is a paid internship from April through August.
Essential Functions

Assist with looking up church websites to capture email addresses of ministers, youth leaders and choir masters.

Assist in capturing email addresses from the RCMA Members website for marketing purposes.
- Assist with the distribution of and restocking promotional materials including; magazines, posters, rack cards, signs, brochures, sign panels and other items around the lake and in key tourist areas.
- Assist with general administrative tasks of the marketing and communications office.

Shadow team members to gain hands-on experience in marketing operations.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned and required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Proven computer skills, organizational skills and interpersonal skills are required.

Journalism, marketing or communications coursework or relevant experience preferred.

Must be comfortable communicating with guests about Lake Junaluska’s mission: to be a place of Christian hospitality where lives are transformed through renewal of soul, mind and body.

Must be willing to work Fridays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Working Conditions

Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation with quiet to moderate noise. At times, be outdoors to transport materials to other buildings in varying summer weather conditions.

- Manual dexterity to perceive attributes of objects and materials.

Climb, balance, stoop, kneel; frequently moves about, able to stand, walk and sit for extended periods.

Hours: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
