POSITION DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Marketing Manager, Communications and Public Relations

REPORTS TO: President & CEO

OVERALL PURPOSE:
Reporting to the President & CEO, the Marketing Manager, Communications and Public Relations is responsible for developing, implementing, and executing strategic marketing plans for an entire organization in order to define and support brand and image awareness, increase product education, attract potential customers and retain existing ones, and respond to business needs.

External/Internal Communications:

· Identify media and public relations opportunities and engagements to promote United Way and United Way Programming.

· Consult with key United Way leadership on marketing opportunities and ideas.

· Maximize digital communications and emerging technologies in support to fundraising and impact goals.

· Manage content for Digital Services and giving platforms.

· Manage website, maintain/update current development of new site.

· Develop multimedia content in writing and designing website copy, talking points, press releases, articles, reports, social media posts, fact sheets, and one pagers.

· Support digital marketing strategy by analyzing data, identifying target audience/vehicles and building associated landing pages.

· Develop and implement marketing and public relations strategies to achieve objectives of the organizational strategic direction.

· Coordinate the production of printed materials, advertising, direct mail, and other communication vehicles, serving as the internal graphic designer as well as negotiating.

· Support President and key leaders in their roles as spokespersons.

Marketing Strategies:

· Manage campaign recognition including developing and distributing forms, organizing the selection committee, purchasing awards etc.

· Develop and execute targeted marketing strategies for the annual campaign.

· Work with volunteers to expand United Way’s year-round visibility through promotional activities, co-marketing sponsorship, etc.

· Assist all departments with marketing needs.

Special Events:

· Provide guidance for public events to promote the work and reputation of United Way to include annual Campaign Kick Off, Volunteer Recognition Events, Volunteer Connection and all other organizationally sponsored events.

· Serve as the United Way lead staff for joint events.

· Coordinate or assist with other organizational and targeted events.

· Identify special event partnership opportunities.

Marketing & Volunteer Support:

· Work to implement the overall marketing strategies approved by United Way leadership.

· Provide direction and delegate marketing projects and tasks to interns.

Miscellaneous:

· Attend meetings and events as requested.

· Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Education: Bachelor’s Degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing or a related field.

· Experience: Two to three years’ experience in communications, public relations, journalism, or related profession.

· Knowledge: Proven writing, editing, and social media skills, basic proficiency in desktop publishing and Microsoft Office.

· Skills: Creative thinker, interpersonal, public speaking, self-directed, independent, organizational, results oriented, team entered, media relations.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional environment, onsite and at home.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to remain in a stationary position, operate a computer and communicate by telephone.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full time position with an established schedule. Reliable transportation is essential to this position.
