Marketing & Media Designer - Freelance

Job Description

We are launching a series of creative community events in Williston and are looking for someone who enjoys creating event flyers and social media post designs to help promote upcoming events.

The work is flexible and project-based. It is ideal for someone who enjoys design work, freelance-style projects, or is building a creative portfolio.

Designs do not need to be highly complex—tools like Canva or similar programs are perfectly fine. The goal is to create graphics that are clear, engaging, and easy to share online.

Responsibilities

• Design event flyers used to promote upcoming events
• Create social media post images announcing events
• Create reminder post images as events approach
• Make small edits or variations to existing designs when needed
• Optional: assist with posting or scheduling social media content (not required)

Most events will require one main flyer and several social media post images leading up to the event.

Compensation

Because this is a growing event series, compensation is structured per finalized design or promotional piece created and approved for use rather than hourly.

Example compensation:

• Event flyer design: $20–$35
• Social media post image: $10–$15 each
• Reminder post image: $10–$15

Most events will require 3–5 designs total, meaning typical earnings may range from $40–$100 per event depending on the amount of work created. Plan to have anywhere from 3-10 events per month.

Professional Development Benefit

As the event series grows, team members also receive a personal professional development fund.

For every $1,000 in event profit, $50 is added to your personal development fund. This fund is separate from regular pay and can be saved up over time but will expire once you leave the position.

Funds may be used for approved professional growth opportunities related to your role, such as:

• design or marketing courses
• workshops or certifications
• creative tools or software
• conferences related to marketing or design
• equipment that improves your work

All purchases must be approved before purchase to ensure they align with the role and the mission of the organization.

Ideal Candidate

• Like working on flexible freelance-style projects
• Communicate reliably and meet deadlines
• Enjoy contributing to creative or community-based projects

Formal design experience is not required—creativity and reliability matter more.

Location

Most work will be done remotely, however, some in-person collaboration is encouraged.

Pay: $10.00 - $50.00 per hour
