Marketing & Social Media Content Specialist
Purpose
The Marketing and Social Media Content Specialist maintains and expands Metro Parks presence. This nature-loving and customer service focused team-member will work to ensure we're fully engaging existing users, attracting new ones, integrating our marketing activities via social media platforms and effectively positioning Metro Parks.
At the core of Metro Parks marketing efforts is our desire to get the citizens of Franklin County and beyond talking about, actively using, and advocating for our amazing parks!
Examples of Duties
Develops strategies to grow Metro Parks’ brand, presence, and reach across multiple digital media platforms to target and increase various audiences.
Creates and edits original content for internal and external audiences, publications, and media outlets, including content for special events, and spontaneous photography and videography.
Develops and implements content for marketing, recruitment, and communications campaigns, including producing videos, digital toolkits, infographics, fliers, and other digital assets for target audiences.
Manages content calendars for social media and other appropriate digital channels.
Identifies trends, relevant news, and other opportunities in the digital media space to increase brand awareness and voice.
Stays current with emerging digital media behaviors, trends, and technologies.
Manages all digital assets, including building, organizing, and maintaining a digital media library, and oversees all digital accounts, such as Google Business Profiles.
Conducts website reviews and performs edits, changes, and updates as needed to support operations and enhance the guest experience.
Writes and publishes blogs, press releases, and articles; assists with print publications and marketing materials, including interpretive and educational signage. Assists with media relations, including developing media contacts, articles, presentations, and pitches.
Analyzes and reports on digital analytics to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of content across all channels.
Attends Metro Parks events and programs to provide timely photo and video coverage and real-time social media promotion.
Monitors and responds to digital and social media comments, questions, and feedback in a professional and timely manner.
Trains and supports team members across all departments to effectively leverage social media.
Manages Metro Parks' chronolog stations, OuterSpacial App, andArchove Social.
Completes all required reports and documentation accurately and on schedule.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Digital Journalism or related field supplemented by demonstrated professional experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Extensive knowledge of social and digital media management, including Meta Business Suite. Proven experience writing and producing digital and print content tailored to diverse target audiences. Experience managing multiple social media platforms required.
Ability to work effectively within a team environment. Must possess outstanding customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Language Skills
Ability to communicate courteously and professionally with coworkers, vendors, volunteers, and the general public. Ability to accurately communicate verbally and in writing. Interpersonal awareness and emotional intelligence required. Communication occurs daily.
Strong knowledge of basic mathematics, including factions, decimals, and percentages. Ability to work with symbols in formulas, equations or graphs to prepare meaningful, concise, and accurate reports. Ability to calculate fractions, decimals, percentages. Ability to recognize errors and make corrections.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to make sound decisions and respond effectively to questions or concerns.
Technology Skills
Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro). Proficiency in WordPress, Canva and other web-based design programs. Demonstrated experience using computers, Social Media Platforms, payroll and budgeting software, email, internet, intranet, and basic office equipment. Excellent organizational skills to maintain accurate databases, spreadsheets, and digital archives.
Licenses, Registrations
Possession of a valid Ohio Driver license, insurable by Metro Parks' insurance carrier, and ability to conform to the driving standards policy.
Employee must be prepared to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required or assigned.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will use mobile devices and computer and will need to walk/move, talk and hear. The employee is required to use hands and fingers to; enter data, use office equipment, file paperwork, etc. Ability to position self to take photos/ videos and capture image(s) in best way possible. Duties include light lifting of up to 25 pounds, constant use of a keyboard or mobile texting devices.
While performing the regular duties of this job, the employee works both indoors and outdoors. The employee will travel to parks and may be in outside weather conditions. Duties require frequent walking, sometimes on both improved and unimproved trails. While in the office, the employee will work in a cubicle environment with some sedentary duties. This is an on-site position; remote work is unavailable.

Ability to maintain information of a confidential nature; develop and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and the general public. Knowledge of printing methods, photography (digital and traditional) and video editing. Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and adapt to changing priorities. Detail oriented with the ability to maintain high standards of quality and accuracy within established deadlines. Skills in time management, planning and scheduling required. Strong editing and proofreading skills required. Self-starter, who is creative and able to work with tight deadlines.

Work Hours: The work schedule for this position will be varied and will include evenings, weekends and some holidays. The individual in this position will design the work schedule around park events and in a way to work with park staff who do not work a typical weekday, daytime schedule.
