Mason

The role is often physically demanding, involving physical labour and creating structures with your hands. A mason may have several roles and responsibilities, including the following:

• building structures, such as those used in roofing and framing
• identifying and repairing compromised portions of concrete structures or bases
• demolishing, building, or modifying chimneys
• performing construction duties
• reading and interpreting blueprints for projects and documentation
• engaging in concrete finishing
• using a variety of tools and equipment to build or demolish structures
• identifying safety hazards and communicating them to the team
• smoothing and finishing concrete surfaces
• modifying landscapes using mowing or turf equipment
• building retaining walls
• cutting and installing stone structures using saws or other machinery
• lifting and installing blocks, stones, and bricks
• restoring existing structures
• mixing mortar and cement for use
• painting structures
• training new employees about workplace safety protocol and best practices
• cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment.
