Job Title: Master Electrician – Traffic Signals & Public Lighting
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Master Electrician to lead the installation, maintenance, and repair of critical traffic control systems and roadway lighting for local and state government entities. This role combines technical expertise in high-voltage electrical work with specialized knowledge of municipal traffic technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- New Construction: Lead and supervise electrical installations including underground and overhead on government lighting and traffic signal systems
- System Maintenance: Perform routine and emergency repairs on traffic signals, roadway lighting, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
- Safety: Perform all work in accordance with best safety practices including OSHA and company standards. Ensure direct reports do the same.
- Permitting & Compliance: Serve as the Licensed Master Electrician on record, pulling necessary permits and ensuring all work complies with the plans, the. National Electrical Code (NEC), and the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
- Mentorship: Train and mentor junior employees to develop their skills in electrical installation and troubleshooting
- Travel: A significant amount of travel will be required depending on job locations
Qualifications:
- Licensure: Active Master Electrician License (State of Texas or reciprocating state).
- Experience: Extensive experience in traffic signal and lighting for public works projects.
- Certifications: TRF 450 and IMSA Traffic Signal Level II certification or higher is strongly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading complex circuit diagrams, wiring schematics, and government construction plans.
- Traffic Control: Knowledge of traffic control standards and implementation are preferred.
- Equipment: Equipment knowledge and operating experience preferred including excavators, skid steers, bucket trucks, cranes, and horizontal directional drills is preferred.
