Material and Technical Submittal Engineer

A material submittal engineer for steel structures prepares, organizes, and tracks technical documentation, such as material data sheets, shop drawings, and welding procedures, ensuring compliance with project specifications, design plans, and industry standards before steel fabrication and erection take place. Key responsibilities include coordinating with project teams, consultants, and suppliers, maintaining documentation logs, and ensuring the timely and accurate submission of these materials for approval.

  • Technical Review: Review and interpret structural steel fabrication drawings, shop drawings, material specifications, and welding procedures to ensure they align with project design plans.
  • Coordination: Liaise with project managers, consultants, fabricators, and suppliers to coordinate submittals and address any discrepancies or issues.
  • Compliance: Verify that materials and fabrication methods comply with approved project specifications, relevant codes, and international standards.
  • Log Tracking: Maintain logs of all submittals, track their status, and ensure that all parties are aware of approved materials and shop drawings.
  • Communication: Serve as a central point of communication for material-related information, ensuring clear and formal documentation of all specifications and approvals.
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop project plans and timelines.
  • Assist in project scheduling, resource allocation, and budget management.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams.
  • Review project specifications and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Prepare technical drawings, including site plans, layouts, and construction details, using AutoCAD software.
  • Develop and review method statements for construction activities.
  • Annalise material submittals and ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Prepare compliance statements and documentation for regulatory approvals.
  • Conduct site inspections to assess construction progress and quality.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, documenting findings and recommendations.
  • Identify and address any technical issues or discrepancies on-site.
  • Manage and respond to Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) issued from project sites.
  • Investigate root causes of non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor and track NCR resolutions to ensure timely closure.
  • Participate in quality audits and inspections to verify compliance with project specifications.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including technical drawings, reports, and correspondence.
  • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and subcontractor
