Material Coordinator duties and responsibilities:

Coordinate and facilitate shop level raw material and finished goods inventory management and reporting, cycle counting of inventory, raw material delivery and finished goods pickup between locations; maintain, update and report on stock status in ERP transport tooling and product to outside service providers and well as picking up local purchases.

Inventory Management

  • Receive raw material into the ERP system, pull a sample for Quality for testing, label each container and physically store on a FIFO basis.
  • Inspect cartons/packaging to ensure they are not damaged, report damage if observed.
  • Perform Cycle Counts on Raw Material and Finished Goods as required.
  • Perform inventory counts in addition to scheduled cycle counts as required.
  • Collaborate with various departments/facilities to manage efficient flow of all materials.
  • Maintain strict material handling practices in accordance with good practice/procedures.
  • Maintain all information for status of materials on a weekly basis.
  • Proactively report minimum stock levels to the Supply Chain Coordinator and the Supply Chain Manager.
  • Adhere to standard warehouse management principles.

Supply Chain/Production

  • Coordinate with departments to ensure efficient movement of all materials and evaluate all materials sent to the production department.
  • Manage transportation of materials from one department/facility to another and make all necessary transactions in the ERP system.
  • Transport raw material and/or finished goods between three facilities including the Mayfield, PA facility.
  • Coordinate with all department managers and Supply Chain Team members to ensure accountabilities for all materials.
  • Coordinate and transport production tooling for outside processing as required.
  • Coordinate and transport WIP inventory for outside processing as required.

Quality and Safety

  • Maintain ISO standards in Supply Chain, Inventory Management, Warehousing, and Production areas.
  • Coordinate with the Quality Department to test raw material.
  • Monitor and maintain strict material handling of all material throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Report “near misses/accidents” to the Supply Chain Manager.
  • Maintain safe working environment throughout the Inventory/Warehouse and Production areas of all facilities.
    • Operate the forklift and box truck in a safe and professional manner to avoid accidents and injuries.
  • Wear all required PPE based on responsibilities and duties.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs or more on a regular basis.
  • Be able to operate a forklift.
  • Have a current driver license and insurance to be able to drive a small box truck for product transportation. Does not require a CDL license.
  • Provide support in all areas as requested.
  • Additional Duties as assigned by the Supply Chain Manager.

  • Report daily and weekly activity and problems/challenges to the Supply Chain Manager.
  • Handle and be responsible for special projects as assigned by the Supply Chain Manager.
  • Ensure as much as possible his/her work environment sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain (with a view to introducing 5S methods), and guarantee a safe Inventory/Warehouse and Production environments.

  • Provide feedback to the Supply Chain Manager as needed.
  • Ensure good dialogue within the team.
  • Ensure good written and verbal communication.
  • Encourage feedback from the Supply Chain Manager and the team as needed.
  • Interface with other departments (especially Shipping Warehouse, Inventory/Warehouse, Quality and Production).
  • Strong working knowledge of Inventory Control.
  • Basic working knowledge in Scheduling and Warehousing.
  • The ability to solve problems step by step; looking beyond obvious solutions to a problem and endeavoring to find the best solution.
  • Computer technical software programs:
  • With internal software: Macola
  • With Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
  • Reading, analysis and interpretation of common industrial, manufacturing and technical procedures.
  • Understanding of Manufacturing safety regulations and practices.

  • Ability to collaborate and interface with other departments (especially Shipping Warehouse, Inventory/Warehouse, Quality and Production).
  • Ability to communicate well with people at different levels; frequently sharing information with others while listening to and understanding their points of view.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years Manufacturing Environment Experience
  • 3-5 years Inventory Control Experience
  • 3-5 years Plastics Manufacturing Environment Experience
  • ERP System Experience/Computer Experience
  • Current Forklift Certification
