Material Handler for Thrift Store - Part-Time

Sunshine Acres Boutique and Donation Center is apart of Sunshine Acres Children's Home. A non-profit located in Mesa, AZ that has served over 2,000 children since opening in 1954. In compliance with DCS regulations, Sunshine Acres Boutique and Donation Center and Sunshine Acres Children's Home require clear background check and drug screenings. Overview
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Retail Associate (Material Handler) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for customer service and a desire to create a positive shopping experience for our customers. As a Retail Associate (Material Handler), you will play a crucial role in assisting customers, promoting products, and maintaining an inviting store environment. This position is perfect for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced retail setting and enjoy working with the public.

Job Type: Part - Time

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Assist in moving any furniture & fixture in the store as needed by the Retail Manager.
  • Assist with unloading furniture to receiving area in yard upon delivery by drivers or donors and move priced furniture into the store by the end of the day.
  • Load out customers’ furniture as needed throughout the day for both Mesa and Boutique stores.
  • Wrap and remove any furniture being delivered from the sales floor to designated delivery area.
  • Rotate outdated furniture weekly to support retail team.
  • Assist with rotating stock schedule to ensure the product is moved out every 6 weeks.
  • Assist in stocking all merchandise correctly on the sales floor.
  • Provide a friendly and joyful welcome to all customers and donors when they enter the store and throughout their shopping experience.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth operations within the store.
  • Address customer inquiries or concerns promptly and professionally to enhance their shopping experience.
  • Work with the Retail Management team to establish and maintain customer service standards to ensure compliance with the company mission statement and to provide a pleasant shopping experience for each customer.
  • Assist in maintaining the physical appearance of the store on every shift, including, but not limited to: communicating and restocking of janitorial and restroom supplies, removing safety hazards, picking up store merchandise and restoring them to proper place, cleaning parking lot, collecting and maintaining shopping carts, sidewalks, windows and doors, store floors, break room(s), restrooms and other public areas, to ensure the safety and health of customers and employees.
  • Maintain and clean out fitting rooms on a regular basis.
  • Assist in merchandising efforts to create appealing displays that attract customers.
  • Maintain an organized and well-stocked sales floor by restocking shelves and managing inventory.
  • Always keep walkie on to pivot with changing business needs.
  • Assist with pricing all inbound furniture daily as it arrives.
  • Treat all customers with dignity and respect as well as take their concerns as valid.
  • Ensure we are getting 90% of the carts stocked before end of day.
  • Keep a positive attitude and drive retail team towards goal for the day!
  • Bring sales ideas/customer feedback to the Retail Manager to further sales!
  • Personal cell phone use is to be kept to an absolute minimum and must be done away from the sales and processing floor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must have a commitment to Sunshine Acres Childrens’ Home mission.
  • Must be a people person with a pleasant and willing attitude and have a servant’s heart.
  • Experience in retail operations preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) with an excellent command of the English language.
  • Excellent math and money handling skills.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Ability to operate a cash register and credit card machine.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform repetitive movements such as bending, twisting, and lifting throughout the day.

Pay: $15.15 per hour
