Schedule

• Primary hours: Weekdays: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Saturdays: 8a.m. to 2p.m.
• Monday through Saturday, 3 to 4 days per week
• Schedule may vary based on seasonal or business needs
• Seasonal position with anticipated end date in October.

Job Summary

The Material Handler is responsible for supporting retail sales operations while safely handling materials, operating equipment, and maintaining a clean, organized store and yard environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet customers promptly
• Maintain displays, stock shelves, and assist with inventory organization and restocking, as directed
• Assist ensuring the sales area, yard, and customer service spaces are clean, organized, and safe
• Follow company policies, safety procedures, and loss‑prevention practices
• Operate forklift and front-end loader to move material safely following all OSHA guidelines and company policy
• Load customer orders into their vehicle by machine or by hand as necessary
• Unload inbound material and place inventory in appropriate area
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years old
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous forklift and front-end loader experience preferred
• Previous retail, sales, or customer service experience preferred (landscaping, building materials, or outdoor supply experience a plus)
• Basic math skills and ability to handle transactions accurately
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, outdoor or partially outdoor environment

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods standing and walking and frequently pulling, pushing, and bending.
• Able to stoop, kneel, push, pull, twist and lift/carry up to 80 pounds.
• Walk on uneven surfaces/unpaved ground.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• 20/20 vision with corrective lenses if necessary.

Work Environment

• Retail store and outdoor yard setting
• Exposure to dust, noise, and weather conditions common to landscaping supply operations
