We are seeking a Material & Inventory Specialist to support our operations with a focus on maintaining accuracy of materials, tools, and equipment needed for Rogers Engineering Inc. projects. This role will track inventory, assist with procurement, ensure timely delivery of construction materials, support field teams, and help manage storage facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update inventory records for construction and civil engineering materials (pipes, fittings, concrete supplies, hardware, etc.), tools, and equipment.
- Track material usage, monitor stock levels, and report variances between actual and expected inventory.
- Coordinate with project managers, site supervisors, and procurement to anticipate material needs for upcoming engineering and construction projects.
- Receive, verify, and store incoming materials; prepare materials for shipping or transfer to job sites.
- Organize and maintain storage facilities (warehouses, material yards), ensuring orderly storage, labeling, and safe handling of materials.
- Conduct periodic physical inventory audits and reconcile with system records; investigate discrepancies.
- Ensure proper documentation for material movements, returns, and disposals.
- Assist in material cost tracking and suggest cost-saving opportunities (e.g., bulk orders, optimizing storage processes).
- Maintain safety and compliance in material storage, managing hazardous materials per regulation, if applicable.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in inventory control, materials handling, or warehouse operations, especially for construction or civil engineering materials.
- Basic computer skills; comfortable using inventory/tracking systems, MS Excel or Google Sheets.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and move materials, work in outdoor or warehouse settings, sometimes under weather-exposed conditions.
- Strong communication skills; ability to work with field teams, procurement, and project management.
Preferred:
- Associate’s Degree in Supply Chain, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with construction/project material procurement.
- Familiarity with inventory software or enterprise systems.
- Previous experience working in water resources, site planning, infrastructure.
- Knowledge of material specifications for civil engineering (pipes, concrete, fittings, etc.).
Working Conditions & Logistics:
- Work from both office and field/warehouse/material yard as needed.
- May require lifting heavy materials (up to 50 lbs or more), occasionally working outdoors, in varied weather.
- Physical proximity to storage yards or job sites; travel between sites may be required.
- Full-time position; some flexibility in hours possible depending on project schedule demands.
