Work under the direction of the Supervisor of Building Trades (Warehouse & Materials). The Materials Specialist supervises the requisitions, receipt, storage, issuance, and shipping of all supplies for all Plant Operations.

Working Conditions
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must possess and maintain sufficient strength, agility, endurance, and sensory ability to perform the duties contained in the duty statement. Involves lifting of up to 50 pounds alone. Lifting may often be combined with pushing, pulling,bending, stooping, squatting, grabbing, carrying, kneeling, twisting, and reaching at, or above, shoulder level. Includes bending and twisting, sitting, standing, and walking most of the time, with, or working on irregular surfaces, and periodically requires extraordinary physical activity. Overtime may be required to ensure the operational needs of the facility are met. Many workplaces are subject to limited ventilation and extreme heat.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Incumbents will be exposed to all Clinical and Support services areas of the facility. Potential exposure to communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens and other conditions common to a clinical nursing environment. Ongoing interaction with personnel and the public. This position requires problem solving skills and ability to communicate effectively. Overtime may be required.

Department Information
The California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities.
These disabilities include intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions. Services are provided through state-operated developmental centers and community facilities, and contracts with 21 nonprofit regional centers. The regional centers serve as a local resource to help find and access the services and supports available to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
