MATERIALS BUYER

Reports to: Materials Manager

Pay: $25.00 - $38.50 per hour

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Materials Buyer is responsible for the procurement, reconciliation, and replenishment of the supplies and implants inventory. The scope of the role includes the determination of needed replenishment requirements of surgical/pre-post op. supplies and implants, placement of orders with suppliers, receiving/verifying shipments into inventory, maintaining designated storage locations, and reconciling case usage/costing. The position also supports facility or non-inventory procurement as requested or needed.

Duties include determining frequent restock requirements, transacting purchase orders, managing supplier relationships, tracking incoming orders/shipments, maintaining inventory in a system and on tracking spreadsheets, reconciling material costs and inventory used in cases, maintaining par levels in designated storage locations.

This position works closely with and may occasionally supplement a material handler who is responsible for the receipt and restocking of supplies in a variety of areas of the surgery center.

The employee will support the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the Surgery Center, and participate in quality improvement activities.

Requirements:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Highly skilled in spreadsheets and experienced with inventory systems.
  • More than one year of procurement experience.
  • Basic knowledge of medical supplies.
  • Ability to lift packages throughout the day
  • Reads, writes, speaks, and comprehends the English language.
  • All employees must be able to provide proof of their identity and their right to work in the United States.

Preferred Characteristics

Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or degree in related field.

Experience in a surgical or health care facility.

Experience in warehousing related activities.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Utilizes body mechanics to move materials, with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing in excess of 25 pounds.
  • Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist, bending body

downward and forward by bending legs and spine, bending legs at knees to come to

rest on knees and extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction are movements

which may be required in carrying out job responsibilities.

  • Must be able to express and/or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word.
  • Possible exposure to hazardous equipment.
  • Visual and aural acuity.
  • Possible exposure to blood and body fluids.
  • Possible exposure to ASC specific hazardous materials.
