Materials Manager

What is a Materials Manager?
This position establishes inventory processes and controls to ensure materials availability, and is accountable for all warehousing functions, including the management and handling of raw materials, components, finished goods inventory, and inbound and outbound freight.
In this role, you will:
- Collaborate with planning, manufacturing, and branches to determine and fulfill supply demands
- Oversee distribution of materials and supplies both inside the organization and outbound shipping to clients
- Control inventory levels and ensure availability of material per the demand plan and budget
- Validate demand and propose alternate parts and materials when required to overcome material shortage issues and schedule changes
- Maintain inventory accuracy through inventory cycle counts, control systems, and corrective actions
- Utilize inventory management system to generate and evaluate reports to make inventory decisions for stock levels in accordance with management objectives
- Contribute data and information for “make or buy” decisions
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by implementing, maintaining, and adhering to regulatory and HSE policies
- Work within a team setting to drive continuous improvement including 5S methodology
- Supervise, train, coach, and evaluate subordinates
Required and Preferred Experience:
- 5+ years’ experience with SAP or ERP system is required, preferably in the manufacturing industry
- Previous experience in a leadership position required
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Work in a shop environment of an oil and gas service company
- Regularly sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, taste and/or smell, use hands to manipulate with fingers, handle or feel, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach with hands and arms
- Occasionally lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs.; team lift, use a cart, or forklift when necessary (SEF Energy employees shall not manually lift an item weighing more than 50 lbs., they shall utilize mechanical assistance devices. If mechanical assistance devices are not available, utilize a team lift.)
- Working near moving mechanical parts, near fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, cold or hot conditions (non-weather), with minimal risk of vibrations
- Ability to see at a close distance (clear vision at 20” or less), long distance (clear vision at 20’ or more), identify and distinguish colors, observe an area that can be seen up and down or left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point, depth perception (judge distances and spatial relationships, three-dimensional vision), adjust focus (adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)
- Moderately noisy environment
Education:
- HS diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field – such as supply chain, business, or logistics preferred
